Amazon Prime Video confirmed The Wheel of Time will premiere sometime this year.
The release window came by way of a short promo that promises "Even legends have a beginning."
First published in 1990, Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time fantasy series consists of 14 novels, the final three of which were co-written by Brandon Sanderson following Jordan's death in 2007. The series, which follows a group of young villagers coming to terms with their own powers while being drawn into a worldwide conflict, is set in a world in which only women can wield the magical One Power without losing their sanity. It became a cornerstone of modern epic fantasy, known for its unique worldbuilding and expansive scope.
Although Season 1 of The Wheel of Time has yet to premiere, Amazon Studios already ordered a second season.
Executive produced and written by Rafe Judkins, The Wheel of Time stars Rosamund Pike, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Barney Harris, Madeleine Madden, Daniel Henney, Michael McElhatton, Kae Alexander, Sophie Okonedo and Kate Fleetwood. The series is slated to debut on Amazon Prime Video in 2021.
