Sōsuke Aizen is one of the most infamous villains of the Bleach anime. Initially known as a gentle, bespectacled captain who seemingly gets murdered, he is revealed to be a mastermind who faked his death for his own goals. As a villain, he became known for backstabbing, hiding his true colors with appearances, his betrayal of the Soul Society, and his overall ambitious nature.
Anime is filled with plenty of villains who, if the wheels of fate turned things a little differently, might have actually had been a good match for Aizen, whether it's because they share common interests or because they've already shown to be attracted to similar characters.
10 Quattro Also Likes To Hide Her True Colors With A Pair Of Glasses (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS)
Aizen is known for hiding his true colors underneath a pair of glasses, passing as a kindhearted intellectual. Another villain who hides their more sinister personality with a cutesy image, complete with a pair of glasses, is Quattro from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.
Of course, Quattro only comes off as lovable and cute when others are watching her, with her embracing her more sadistic side when alone. Even being shot down by Nanoha didn't help her change her ways, making her one of the evilest characters Nanoha has taken down.
9 Queen Beryl Also Enjoys Killing Failing Subordinates Like Aizen (Sailor Moon)
Queen Beryl of Sailor Moon has quite a bit in common with Aizen. Once a simple witch from Earth, she made a deal with Metalia to become the "queen" of the Dark Kingdom and helped turn the people of her planet against the people of the Moon, going so far as to corrupt Prince Endymion's four guardians and later kill the prince herself, bringing to mind Aizen's plan of killing and usurping the Soul King.
Another thing that they have in common is the way they treat their subordinates. In the '90s anime, Queen Beryl was infamous for trapping Jadeite in a fate worse than death for his repeated failures and killing Zoisite for disobeying orders. Likewise, Aizen is also known for killing loyal minions who fail him.
8 Ai Enma Might Be Willing To Trade Work Stories With Him (Hell Girl)
Technically speaking, Ai Enma, the titular Hell Girl, muddles the line between being a heroine and a villain, especially considering she's the main character of her series, although she does often find herself dragging souls—deserving or otherwise—off to be tortured in the underworld.
Not only do Ai and Aizen effectively work for the afterlife, but both also seem to dislike the current order of things, although Ai seems a little more sympathetic, trying to protect her loved ones from being tortured. On the other hand, they have one main difference: Ai is usually at least professional towards her minions.
7 Misa Amane Even Has A History With Shinigami (Death Note)
Misa Amane, also known as the second Kira, is known for developing feelings for a supernatural killer with a God complex. Misa just really seems to like having a dark aesthetic, from her clothes to the way she decorates her room. All in all, she seems obsessed with death and isn't above killing people to get what she wants.
Interestingly, shinigami have been known to fall in love with her, like Gelus and Rem, to the point that they would violate the laws of life and death just for her sake. That said, she didn't exactly return Rem's feelings.
6 The Princess Of Disaster Also Has A Thing For Butterflies (Pretear)
Fenrir, the Princess of Disaster, in the Pretear anime, also betrayed her original companions, the Leafe Knights, transforming from a good magical girl to a villainess.
She and Aizen also have something in common: they have a thing for butterflies. Fenrir uses butterflies as her minions and Himeno even has a nightmare about them attacking her. Aizen's transformations grant him a chrysalis, pairs of butterfly wings, and even help him become a monstrous butterfly creature.
5 Kaguya Succeeded In Replacing A Celestial Princess (Inuyasha)
Kaguya is a scheming yokai who appeared in the Inuyasha film, Castle Beyond the Looking Glass. While it might seem surprising that she's named after a princess from a Japanese fairy tale, there's a reason for that: she absorbed the real celestial maiden and took on her identity.
This brings to mind Aizen's ultimate goal to usurp the Soul King, and Kaguya taking on the form of a fabled princess resembles Aizen's habit of pretending to be less of a threat than he really is. Added to that, both of them are known for using powerful illusions.
4 Lust Isn't Above A Little Backstabbing Either (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Although she is more sympathetic in her portrayal in the 2003 anime adaptation, Lust of Fullmetal Alchemist was known for being quite sadistic and manipulative in the original manga.
Lust appeared to be a sweet and supportive person as Havoc's girlfriend, Solaris, only for her to literally stab him in the back and go off to try to kill others. Aizen is also fond of this tactic, from stabbing Hinamori to manipulating Hitsugaya into stabbing Hinamori again.
3 Devil Queen Raindevila Might Suit A Soul King (Wedding Peach)
The sinister Raindevila, the Devil Queen of Wedding Peach, seeks to destroy love throughout the world, opposing the more love-focused angels, although she surprisingly turns out to be more sympathetic as her backstory is explained, at least in the anime adaptation, showing that she once wanted to be loved.
That said, while she arguably goes in a different direction than Aizen, going from an evil villain to a more tragic figure, it could be argued that with Aizen's ambitions, especially a desire to become the Soul King, forming an alliance with a powerful Devil Queen could prove advantageous.
2 Princess Emeraude Has A Thing For Bad Boys (Magic Knight Rayearth)
While it might be a stretch to call Princess Emeraude a villain, she really isn't the damsel in distress the characters think she is. She is in love with the supposed villain, Zagato, and has orchestrated things because she is torn between her love and her duty. Then again, when Zagato is killed, she does seem to go off into the deep end and become more of a typical villainess.
Aizen also combines light and darkness just like Zagato, although in different ways. Zagato looks like an evil overlord but isn't really the villain he's taken for. Aizen really is evil, but hides behind appearances, even donning light-colored clothes when his true colors come out.
1 Albedo Has A Similar Fashion Sense (Overlord)
As mentioned, even as a villain, Aizen still dons himself in white, butterflies, and an overall light motif, and Albedo of Overlord shares a similar aesthetic, being known as the "Warm And Caring Devil Of Pure White," with her resembling an angel and her name even meaning "white."
Similar to Aizen, she also enjoys seeing people used as pawns and, with the exception of Momonga, she also plans to find and kill the other Sumpre Beings of the New World.
