The announcement came at Summer Game Fest 2021, where a number of new video games were unveiled, including Jurassic World: Evolution 2, Elden Ring and more.

Death Stranding was released in 2019 and is set in the United States, following a cataclysmic event -- the Death Stranding -- that led to the appearance of Beached Things, which feed on the dead and cause explosions when they do. More than that, they produce rain that rapidly ages and deteriorates everything it hits. These Beached Things destroyed the continent and forced the formation of knot cities and the establishment of the United Cities of America. The game centers on a courier named Sam Bridges who is tasked with delivering supplies to colonies and reconnecting them to the wireless communications network.
