Final Space: Little Cato Discovers the Truth About Avocato | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Final Space Season 3, Episode 12, "The Leaving," which aired Saturday on Adult Swim.

After holding in the secret of Little Cato's true parentage for his entire life, Avocato had to face the consequences of his actions in the latest episode of Final Space when the truth finally came out. With hope for survival dwindling, the Galaxy 2 crew are nowhere near heading home. With tensions always high, they might not make it out alive, let alone together.

Having survived the onslaught of the zombie Garys and suffered the wrath of the Titan-evolved Lord Commander, the team decided to skip the plan of killing all Titans and concentrate on heading home. To do that, they needed to locate the Hyper-Transdimensional Bridge, which seemed impossible until Biskit intervened and found it floating in space. Upon arrival, they discovered that it was non-operational and needed power to function. They used Mooncake as a generator, and the gate started charging. To kill some time, Gary and Quinn used this chance to consummate their relationship, but Little Cato kept getting in the way. Gary pawned Little Cato off on his mother, which got Little Cato thinking about his own mother.

Little Cato asked Avocato for details about his mother, and Avocato lied, still not ready to reveal his secret. Afterward, Avocato told Gary what happened, and Gary tried to convince him to tell Little Cato the truth. Unfortunately, Ash heard the conversation and burst into the room, fighting Gary and Acovato until they revealed the truth. Avocato gave in and confessed, which made Ash furious, fully believing that she is on the wrong side and that Invictus was right. She planned to take Little Cato far away from the Galaxy 2 to Invictus but not before throwing Gary and Avocato into space.

The pair managed to survive the forced ejection and made their way back, radioing in to warn Cheryl and Quinn of Ash's plan. Inside the ship, Ash found Little Cato and told him about Avocato's secret. She informed him that Avocato is not his father but the man who killed his parents. Little Cato was left in shock, barely given time to react to the news as Ash tried to force him to leave. Just then, Gary and Avocato returned to the ship to try and stop Ash from taking their son. Sadly, they were too late, and Ash rode off into the cosmos with Little Cato, who did not want to leave, seeing the Galaxy 2 as his home.

Little Cato does not appear too distraught by the news of his true parentage. He seems to love and care for Avocato and Gary, so it's possible he could easily forgive the pair. However, he might not get the chance as he is being dragged to Invictus and placed in front of him. With only one episode remaining in the season, no one is guaranteed to make it out alive.

Created by Olan Rogers, Final Space stars Olan Rogers, Tom Kenny, Tika Sumpter, Fred Armisen, Steven Yuen, David Tennant and Coty Galloway. Season 3 airs Saturdays on Adult Swim.
