Originally set to premiere on Showtime, where it was developed for years before receiving the green light, the live-action Halo series shifted to streaming and will premiere on Paramount+ in the first quarter of 2022. At the time of the shift, CBS Chief Creative Officer and Showtime Chairman and CEO David Nevis said that Halo will deliver "the visceral excitement of playing the game, along with a much deeper emotional experience" as the Spartans attempt to reclaim their humanity.

Like many productions in 2020, Halo was hit with a delay stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in November, with Schrieber sharing a photo of himself sporting a portion of Master Chief's infamous helmet.

Halo stars Pablo Schreiber, Natascha McElhone, Bokeem Woodbine, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac and Shabana Azmi. The series has yet to receive a premiere date.
