My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Who Would Be a Perfect Match For Ochaco Uraraka

My Hero Academia is positively packed with memorable and exciting characters of all sorts, and not just because of their super-powered Quirks. Izuku Midoriya and his classmates are beloved for their personalities and character arcs too, and that is especially true for characters such as Shoto Todoroki and Ochaco Uraraka. The latter is an easy contender for Best Girl, in fact.

Ochaco Uraraka, going by the hero name Uravity, came from a modest household and is determined to become a great hero not for fame, but to support her struggling family and repay her parents for all they've done for her. Ochaco appreciates the value of a true friend, and she may even be falling for her personal idol, her classmate Izuku Midoriya. But suppose Ochaco's dating pool was widened a bit?

10 Rikido Sato, The Gentle Giant (My Hero Academia)

Izuku Midoriya is a great guy, but he's not the only one in class 1-A. There's also Rikido Sato, another melee-oriented hero with a strong body and a gentle heart. In battle, Rikido is ferocious and hard-hitting, such as when he fought Cementoss alongside Eijiro Kirishima, but otherwise, he wouldn't harm a fly.

Rikido is modest and humble about his abilities, and he has a hobby that all the girls love: baking sweets such as cookies and cakes. Rikido's gentle personality, indomitable will, and friendly demeanor would make him Ochaco's #1 choice if Izuku weren't in the picture.

9 Choji Akimichi, The Heavy-Hitting Shinobi (Naruto)

At first, Choji Akimichi was just comic relief, being the "big eater" character who tended to suffer pratfalls in battle, even in the classroom. However, Choji has the heart of a true shonen ninja, and he is stubbornly loyal to his good friend Shikamaru Nara and his Leaf Village comrades. This is especially true in Shippuden, when Choji is in his mid-teens or so.

Choji isn't too different from Izuku or Naruto Uzumaki, being a good-hearted kid who responds well to challenges and never gives up hope. Ochaco would definitely admire Choji's emphasis on friendship and bravery.

8 Yasutora "Chad" Sado, Who Uses His Strength For Good (Bleach)

The huge Yasutora Sado, who also goes by Chad, is a bit like Rikido Sato. He was once a bully who took out his frustration on others, but then he learned a vital lesson from his beloved grandfather in Mexico. He then vowed to use his strong body to shield other people and resist bullying via pacifism.

Now, high school-era Chad is a gentle giant who's rather quiet but kind, and he is quick to stand up to bullies and villains without hesitation. All this would endear him greatly to Ochaco, even if he looks a bit scary at first.

7 Alphonse Elric, The Alchemy-Slinging Country Boy (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Alphonse Elric underwent major physical and mental changes alike during the course of this show, and he and his brother Edward soon became national heroes after defeating the villainous Father. Alphonse isn't the type to boast about it, though. He'd rather look to the future and enjoy the peace that he and Ed fought so hard for.

Alphonse is much gentler than his hot-headed brother Edward, usually acting as a peacemaker and diplomat when dealing with other people. Al is brave and tough, but soft-spoken and kind, and Ochaco would definitely take a liking to him. Perhaps Al could invite her to a private tour of Central and its many sights.

6 Yuji Itadori, Sukuna's Vessel (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Many shonen protagonists are tough guys with a heart of gold, following the same mold that Son Goku and Yusuke Urameshi set for them. Yuji Itadori is no different. Yuji is actually like the Ichigo Kurosaki of a new generation, a tough and cool high school student who soon gets wrapped up in supernatural affairs.

Yuji is an excellent fighter, but never does he lose himself to bloodlust or hate. In fact, he is reluctant to take a life, and he was heartbroken when Jinpei was mutated and killed before his eyes. Someone like Yuji would make a fine match for Ochaco Uraraka.

5 Izumi Miyamura, The Sweet Boy Next Door (Horimiya)

Ochaco Uraraka is certainly drawn to the brave and heroic type, as her crush on Izuku suggests, but fighters aren't her only type. Ochaco isn't becoming a hero to beat up villains or to rise in the ranks; she's the type to focus on the joyful and peaceful side of life, and Izumi Miyamura feels the same way.

Izumi is a quiet boy who blends in at school, but in reality, he has some punkish tastes and is like a big brother figure to Kyoko's younger brother. Ochaco would definitely like Izumi's kind and sweet personality, and Izumi would like her right back. Their relationship wouldn't be terribly exotic or wild, but it would be strong.

4 Shoya Ishida, Who Seeks To Atone (A Silent Voice)

During his elementary school days, Shoya Ishida would have been repulsive to Ochaco, being a brash bully who antagonized others and ran around just to avoid boredom. But as a high schooler, Shoya was a changed man, and his true personality had a chance to shine through. All he wanted was to make things right, and protect people from bullying and misery.

Shoya's heroic side had emerged at last, and he tirelessly fought to make up for his past wrongs and bring happiness to his former victim, Shoko. In a way, Shoya is like a hero who knows what it's like to be a villain, and this gives him a great deal of sympathy towards others and a balanced perspective. Ochaco would definitely take his side.

3 Bolin, The Fun-Loving Earthbender (The Legend Of Korra)

Bolin, a talented Earthbender, is not unlike Choji and Rikido Sato. He is a gentle and selfless person, having grown up in poverty in Republic City's mean streets, and Bolin never once gave in to the temptation to become a villainous criminal or thug. He's too noble for that, despite his dire circumstances.

Bolin is the classic shonen hero type, a tough and brave fellow who will stand up to any villain with all his might and fight to protect the people whom he loves. That would greatly boost his stock in Ochaco's eyes, and Bolin's sense of humor and laid-back ways are icing on the cake.

2 Noriaki Kakyoin, A Stardust Hero (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

Jotaro Kujo is famously grouchy and unapproachable, and he treats girls rather gruffly. In contrast, his ally and friend Noriaki Kakyoin is a kind and compassionate person who can defuse any tense situation and empathize with just about anyone. That doesn't make him a pushover, though; in fact, he is merciless towards DIO's minions.

It's true that Kakyoin has a thing for attractive women such as Jotaro's mother, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't appreciate the gentle strength and charm of a girl close to his own age, such as Ochaco Uraraka. He would definitely see her as a true hero and outstanding citizen, and vice versa.

1 Chrome, The Amateur Scientist (Dr. Stone)

Although Chrome does get carried away at times and loses his cool, he is a kind and loyal person at heart, and to him, trust and friendship mean everything. Chrome was once a bit vain about being Ishigami Village's top "sorcerer," but ever since meeting Senku Ishigami, he's had a change in perspective.

Now, Chrome is a loyal team player and a brave fighter for the Kingdom of Science, embodying true shonen ideals without the need for a Quirk or advanced martial arts. He and Ochaco would get along great, to say the least, and maybe a bit more, too.
