Netflix and Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red announced the first ever WitcherCon to celebrate television shows and video games relating to Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher. With the event less than two weeks away, the companies have given fans a look at the official schedule.
Five events, evenly divided between Netflix's projects and CD Projekt Red's games, are listed for July 9. Kicking off WitcherCon is "The Witcher Season 2: Deck of Destiny," which will see the stars of The Witcher Season 2, as well as showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, answer randomly selected questions from fans. The schedule teases surprise reveals to be included.
Next up is CD Projekt Red's "Memories from the Path: Stories Behind The Witcher Games." Fans will be given insight into the behind-the-scenes stories behind the Witcher video game trilogy spanning 13 years and the developers will be revealing their favorite moments from the series.
Afterwards, "Geralt of T-Rivia" will see the likes of writer Declan De Barra and Hissrich test their knowledge of the Witcher franchise in a pub quiz-style game. But viewers can also expect to see behind-the-scenes tidbits and sneak peeks.
Though CD Projekt Red has confirmed that no new Witcher game will be announced at WitcherCon, "The Witcher: Beyond Video Games" will provide fans with a look at the game developer's upcoming projects, many of which have been left in relative obscurity, such as The Witcher: Old World-- a board game that was announced in February. But games will not be the sole focus of the panel. CD Projekt Red will also explore other arms of the franchise, such as the Witcher comic books.
Finally, "Tales from the White Wolf," featuring The Witcher star Henry Cavill, will see Netflix's Geralt of Rivia himself answer questions about the wider Witcher universe. Netflix and CD Projekt Red have teased more surprises to help conclude the first ever WitcherCon.
WitcherCon will be available on both Twitch and YouTube. Is set to air on July 9 at 7:00 PM CEST. Fans will be able to watch WitcherCon across two separate streams, with each one containing exclusive content. On July 10, fans can tune into a second stream, also on Twitch and YouTube, which will begin at 03:00 AM CEST.
Following Netflix's Geeked Week and the 10-second clip teasing Ciri's journey in Season 2 -- and its follow-up centerd on Geralt of Rivia -- is has been speculated that WitcherCon will see the release of the first trailer for Season 2 of Netflix's The Witcher, as well as The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and The Witcher: Blood Origin, though the schedule notably lacks mention of either of the latter two.
The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
