A new Superman manga features the hero dealing with a more down to Earth struggle: where to get lunch.
Kodansha, the Japanese publisher best known for manga such as Attack on Titan and The Quintessential Quintuplets, revealed that its new Man of Steel story, Superman VS Meshi, will begin serialization in its Evening magazine starting June 22. Superman will also grace the cover of the next issue of the magazine with a new, full-color illustration.

Meshi is not the name of a villain; rather, it is the Japanese word for "meal." The new manga series will feature the Kryptonian hero flying to restaurants across Japan as he samples and critiques the country's cuisine. The first images from the series reveal Superman is apparently very fond of rice bowls.
This is not the first time Kodansha has collaborated with DC Comics. The two companies also worked together on the Batman Justice Buster and One OP Joker series, both of which were originally published in Kodansha's Morning magazine.
The new Superman manga is being penned by Satoshi Miyakawa, the creator of the 2018 sci-fi comedy anime Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu, and features art by Kai Kitago. Miyakawa is also the author behind the One OP Joker manga, which told the story of the Joker being forced to raise an infant Batman back up to adulthood after the Clown Prince of Crime knocks the Caped Crusader into a vat of de-aging chemicals.
Currently, neither Kodansha or DC have made any announcements regarding an English release of Superman VS Menshi.
