Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield - Chilling Reign Launches Today

Sword & Shield - Chilling Reign, the latest set of the Pokémon Trading Card Gamelaunches today.

Confirmed by The Pokémon Company, Chilling Reign is now available in all participating retailers around the world. This new set of cards introduces a collection of new forms for some of the game's most iconic Pokémon. King Pokémon Calyrex, as both Ice Rider and Shadow Rider forms, will be available as a Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX. Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, Galarian Moltres also make their Western debut in the Chilling Reign set.

"With over 70 new Battle Style cards, Sword & Shield—Chilling Reign allows Pokémon TCG players to perfect the Single Strike or Rapid Strike decks that they built with Sword & Shield—Battle Styles," reads The Pokémon Company's description of the expansion.

Chilling Reign marks the first time the Galarian forms of the Legendary Birds. Previously, these regional variants of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres were only available in Japan through the Peerless Fighters expansion.

Chilling Reign includes eight Pokémon VMAX, 15 Pokémon V, 26 full-art Pokémon V, 28 trainer cards, 13 full-art Supporter cards and three new Special Energy cards. Fans who want to grow their collection with the latest expansion can pick up the new cards in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes or special collections.

While Sword & Shield - Chilling Reign has only just launched, The Pokémon Company has already announced the next expansion: Evolving Skies. Scheduled to release on August 27, Evolving Skies focuses on the different evolutions of fan-favorite Pokémon Eevee and a powerful dragon Pokémon.

The Sword & Shield - Chilling Reign expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game is available from today, June 18.
