A new rumor suggests Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will not only feature Namor the Submariner but that he's already been cast.
According to The Illuminerdi, Tenoch Huerta will play Namor in Wakanda Forever. Huerta's past credits include Narcos: Mexico and Spectre. It's also said that the film will include Namor's fellow Atlanteans Namora and Attuma.
Created by Bill Everett, Namor debuted in 1939's Marvel Comics #1. The character is not only the King of Atlantis but also a mutant, and his kingdom has frequently warred with the nation of Wakanda in the comics.
Namor's introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was teased in 2019's Avengers: Endgame when Okoye mentions underwater earthquakes. The following year, co-writer Christopher Markus addressed the connection, saying, "Sometimes, you plant seeds. Sometimes, they grow." However, it's also worth noting that prior to this, he seemingly downplayed the Namor tease by saying, "I wish we were that smart"
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stars Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett and Martin Freeman. The film arrives in theaters July 8, 2022.
