10 Ultron's Debut In His Damaged Iron Legion Form

While many of the villains faced by The Avengers in the MCU could be considered terrifying, without a doubt the creepiest villain is the murderous artificial intelligence known as Ultron, who made his live-action debut in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

His final form remained powerfully terrifying, but it was his original physical body that really creeped out fans, as Ultron took over the damaged husk of one of Stark's Iron Legion droids to prove that he was no longer a puppet on strings before he launched his attack on the Avengers and the world.

9 Winter Soldier's Sudden Appearance In Alexander Pierce's Home

2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier featured the debut of the previously thought deceased Bucky Barnes as the mind-controlled assassin known as The Winter Soldier, who had been cryogenically frozen over the years and thawed by Hydra for use on important missions.

When The Winter Soldier was put back in action in the modern-day to take out Nick Fury, he showed up secretly in his boss Alexander Pierce's house, creeping out the audience and leading to the tragic death of Pierce's maid, who stumbled upon their clandestine meeting in the dark.

8 Arnim Zola's Survival As A Computer Intelligence Revealed

The evil scientist known as Dr. Arnim Zola first appeared in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger as a member of Red Skull's Hydra organization and the creator of Tesseract-powered weaponry that would have changed the course of WWII.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier revealed that not only had Zola been instrumental in keeping Hydra alive within S.H.I.E.L.D. but he had also managed to creepily find immortality as a computer intelligence who revealed his dark plans to Captain America and Black Widow from an archaic computer monitor.

7 Scarlet Witch's Dark Magical Visions In Age Of Ultron

The first appearance of Wanda Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron placed her on the opposite side of the Avengers, who had been systematically taking down hidden Hydra bases in the hopes of finding Loki's scepter. Wanda's powerful Infinity Stone-derived abilities weren't entirely clear in her first appearance, though she was able to plant nightmares in the minds of the Avengers.

The dark visions included a haunted trip to Valhalla for Thor, a dark dance with Peggy Carter for Captain America, and a tragic nightmare for Iron Man about the end of the Avengers that highlighted the creepy abilities that made Scarlet Witch so dangerous.

6 Peter Quill Abducted By Ravagers As A Child

2014's Guardians of the Galaxy introduced Peter Quill as the cosmic renegade known as Star-Lord who found a new family alongside other cosmic heroes as they fought together to save the galaxy from the threat of Ronan the Accuser. However, the movie opened with the tragic death of young Peter Quill's mother, which led to the young boy running away from the hospital room.

While he was trying to get some air and collect himself, young Quill was abducted by an alien ship to never see Earth again. The stories of his childhood with the Ravagers ranged from creepy to horrifying, though his childhood abduction left an uneasy feeling in some fans.

5 The Murder Of The Starks By The Winter Soldier

While Bucky was eventually freed from Hydra and managed to disappear, his past as the Winter Soldier would continue to haunt him in movies like Captain America: Civil War, which saw the former assassin framed for the murder of Wakanda's King T'Chaka in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.

Captain America sided with his old friend against some of his allies in the Avengers, though one of his darkest deeds was revealed - the creepy murder of Tony Stark's parents that was captured on a security camera, which makes the violent footage inherently more unnerving.

4 Vulture And Spider-Man's Menacing Heart-To-Heart

Following Spider-Man's MCU debut during Civil War, the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler spent some time training in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming that saw him uncover an illegal alien weapon operation run by Adrian Toomes/Vulture, who was eventually revealed to be the father of Peter Parker's crush, Liz.

However, Toomes was able to figure out Peter's identity and had a little heart-to-heart with Peter outside of the dance that started off creepy and quickly turned to menacing as Adrian threatened Peter's life as well as the lives of his family.

3 Scott Lang Trapped In The Quantum Realm While The World Changed

The hugely successful Ant-Man franchise is definitely one of the more comedic series in the MCU, though 2018's Ant-Man and The Wasp also featured one of the creepiest moments in the unforgettable post-credit scene that tied into the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Scott Lang entered the Quantum Realm to both explore the mysterious dimension while also collect quantum particles to assist with Ghost's recovery, though when Thanos snapped and erased half the population, Scott Lang was trapped alone and floating in the miniature dimension, which creeped out a number of fans who had to wait for months to see him return.

2 Zombie Iron Man From Spider-Man: Far From Home

Peter Parker faced off against the holographic illusions of the villain known as Mysterio in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, which dealt with the loss of Iron Man in the MCU and Spider-Man's own grief and uncertainty over his role as a hero and an Avenger.

It was these feelings of loss that were used to fuel one of the creepiest MCU moments ever seen on the big screen, as the zombified body of Iron Man crawled out of a grave to torment Spider-Man during a battle with Mysterio, which creeped out Parker and fans at the same time.

1 Vision's Living Dead Body Briefly Appearing In WandaVision

Disney+ expanded the MCU with new series that explored established characters while also introducing new ones, as seen in WandaVision which dealt with Wanda's grief over the death of The Vision in Avengers: Infinity War.

Wanda used her powerfully growing abilities to shift reality in the small town of Westview so she could bring Vision back to life, though when her reality began to crumble around her, Vision briefly appeared with his caved-in skull while still dressed up in Wanda's TV-based fantasy, which resulted in one of the weirdest and creepiest moments in the MCU.
