The Season 3 finale of Amazon Prime Video's The Boys was just spoiled by... The Boys.
"Season 3 ends with Hughie waking up in bed with Susanne Pleshette and telling her about the weird dream he had where a guy with a beard kept swearing at him," The Boys' official Twitter account wrote. This, of course, is a reference to the series finale of Newhart, in which Bob Hartley (from the previously aired sitcom The Bob Newhart Show) wakes up next to his wife Emily (Suzanne Pleshette) and reveals a crazy dream he had. That dream just happens to be the events of Newhart, meaning the entire series was a dream had by someone from a completely different show. It's also, presumably, just a joke on The Boys' part, though some in the comments don't seem to get the meta-reference to what's largely considered one of the biggest meta-references in television history.
The Boys' social media presence is very much in line with the eponymous team led by Billy Butcher. Most recently, the Twitter account shared a profoundly NSFW Father's Day message and also issued a harsh warning for fans who keep asking for a Season 3 premiere date.
Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good.
Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, Katia Winter as Little Nina and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. Seasons 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
