Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu haș joined the video marketing campaign for Xbox Game Pass' slate of future releases, including one highly anticipated flagship franchise.
Titled "Games Change Your World," the video opens with Liu comparing video games to love, stating, "When you fall in love, it changes your world. You know the feeling because you've been there, and there's nothing like it." The Shang-Chi actor then describes "the thrill of leaving your world behind" and how, in games, "you feel like anything is possible" with gameplay footage and cutscenes from upcoming Xbox titles, including Halo Infinite, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2 and Forza Horizon 5, accompanying his monologue.
Liu then encourages players to see the wonder in gaming's challenges and battles, claiming "this is not a war story. It's a love story, and it's nowhere close to done." His statement is matched by a number of graphically stunning Xbox moments, from a plane flying over a giraffe at sundown to a car freely driving across the desert. The video concludes with Liu noting "that every good story is a love story. And this is ours," before revealing the dates that its games will be added to Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft Flight Simulator arrives July 27, Psychonauts 2 comes out Aug. 25, Back 4 Blood on Oct. 12, Age of Empire IV on Oct. 28 and Forza Horizon 5 on Nov. 9. The last title, Halo Infinite, only described its release date as holiday 2021.
In addition to their future games, Microsoft also recently announced that those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate would receive free 30-day access to Disney+. Microsoft also released a statement saying that a new first-party game would be added to the subscription service "every quarter."
Liu will star as the titular Shang-Chi in Marvel Studio's upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which dropped its first official trailer in April. Prior to Shang-Chi, he was known for playing Jung Kim in the Canadian sitcom Kim's Convenience, which was recently canceled after five seasons. Liu has since criticized Kim's Convenience's producers on social media for their decision to cancel the show, as well as citing issues with Jung's characterization and a lack of "East Asian and female representation" amongst the writing team.
