AMC+ Unveils Images From Its Stop-Motion Comedy Ultra City Smiths

Two detectives take on rampant crime and corruption while on a missing persons case leading to hilarious results in AMC+'s new original animated comedy series Ultra City Smiths.

Using stop-motion animation featuring dolls similar to Team America: World Police and Thunderbirds, the series will delve into decidedly mature humor as a pair of detectives set out to clean up Ultra City. Below, several exclusive images tease Ultra City's red light district, Andrea the Giant's (Bebe Neuwirth) lucha libre action and a musical number. (Each of the first season's six episodes continuing a comedic song-and-dance sequence.)

The series stars Jimmi Simpson and Da'Vine Joy Randolph as police detectives David Mills and Gail Johnson, out to locate missing mayoral candidate Carpenter K. Smith, portrayed by Kurtwood Smith. As the two detectives investigate the disappearance, they find their case linked to some particularly sinister figures in town.

With David and Gail's investigation taking them everywhere from backroom lucha libre matches to their district's Congressman, Ultra City Smiths is poised to bring the laughs as it parodies the entire procedural crime drama genre.

Created by Steve Conrad, Ultra City Smiths stars Kurtwood Smith, Kristen Bell, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Bebe Neuwirth, and more. The series premieres July 22 on AMC+.
