The Yeagerist movement was a party started by Eren Yeager in the Attack On Titan universe. It officially began after his imprisonment at the conclusion of the Marleyan raid, with many civilians claiming that he should be released for his heroism immediately.
Like the Scouts, being a Yeagerist has many perks and detriments to consider when assessing whether or not the organization is worth joining. By measuring the best and worst facets of the group, we can better determine whether or not it would be wise to align with them.
10 HARSH REALITY: The Yeagerists Are Expected To Fight Their Former (& Much More Skilled) Comrades
When Eren's true intentions for the Rumbling were revealed, both Mikasa and Levi Ackerman stood valiantly against him. They were the most formidable warriors to have ever joined the Scouts, and Levi was single-handedly responsible for defeating Zeke.
Not only would it be mentally and emotionally taxing to face off against one's former comrades, but it's also extremely dangerous and demoralizing. Although joining the rebels may not give one more favorable odds, the heroes' presence makes staying neutral in the conflict a more appealing notion.
9 PERK: The Yeagerists Were One Of The Safest Groups To Be Around During Paradis' Destabilization
During Marley's attack on Paradis, things quickly became hectic. In addition to the foreign invaders, Zeke turned many of Eldians' military officers into pure titans to assist him in the fight.
Even after Magath's forces were defeated, the giants remained to pose a threat against local civilians. Joining the Yeagerists means that one will be well protected from whatever threats come their way, so long as they pledge their allegiance to the nascent Eldian Empire.
8 HARSH REALITY: The Yeagerists Are Pitted Against Five Formidable Titan Shifters Simultaneously
In addition to facing off against two of the most skilled ODM users in history, the Yeagerists were forced to fight five of the series' strongest titan shifters. Reiner and Annie provided a distraction while the others secured a boat to escape from.
If Pieck or Armin had dedicated themselves to the battle, it's possible that they could have wiped out Floch's forces entirely. However, they avoided doing so since they felt sympathy for their former comrades and wanted to minimize fatalities.
7 PERK: The Yeagerists Have The Best Access To Thunder Spears & Other Useful Technology
One of the Yeagerists' greatest military advantages is that they held the lion's share of resources. Not only were they prepared to equip their soldiers with fresh ODM gear, but they also supplied them with powerful thunder spears and even handguns to repel their enemies.
This equipped them well for the heroes' attack, even if they lacked skill and experience in battle. What explosives the Yeagerists had also ensured that Mikasa and her comrades could not escape from the harbor on a boat without a considerable amount of danger.
6 HARSH REALITY: To The Yeagerists, Allies & Enemies Are Uncertain
As a Yeagerist, it's difficult to tell who among one's comrades from the Scouts has remained loyal. Since they are actively occupying territory, enemies might lurk around any corner and attempt to exploit the good faith of their former friends.
When Mikasa's team arrived at the harbor, Armin and Connie both posed as soldiers sympathetic to Eren's cause. Although their ruse was exposed, it ultimately got Samuel, Daz, and even Floch himself killed by the time the battle was truly over.
5 PERK: The Yeagerists Provided Competent Leadership In A Time When It Was Sorely Needed
After the death of Dot Pyxis and Dhalis Zachary, Paradis was in sore need of new leadership. Even Hange was killed when attempting to stop one of the colossal titans heading in the heroes' direction, forcing Armin to take the reigns as a makeshift strategist.
By joining the Yeagerists, one is guaranteed stability and order under the watchful direction of Floch. His ability to organize and rally soldiers is second only to Eren's, and he is both competent and personally experienced at leading his people into battle.
4 HARSH REALITY: The Yeagerists Are Forced To Condone (& Sometimes Commit) Atrocities
The most alarming reality of joining the Yeagerists is that as a member, one will likely be expected to commit war crimes. For example, Floch held Kiyomi at gunpoint in order to get her companions to cooperate with his demands and was even willing to execute those who refused.
Eren was also willing to use Gabi as a child hostage in order to force Pieck's compliance in locating Marleyan spies. Nonetheless, the worst atrocity by far is that Yeagerists are complicit in the global genocide of the Rumbling.
3 PERK: The Yeagerists Are Regarded As Heroes By Many Of Paradis' Citizens
To many of Paradis' citizens, the Yeagerists were considered patriots and necessary saviors. Despite their frequent acts of brutality, such a perspective is understandable -- they were one of the nation's primary defenders against the Marleyan invasion and promised a brighter future for their people.
Should one join their ranks, their social status would be elevated, and they would find kinship with many of the most seasoned veterans of the pure titan campaign. Although some disagree with their methods (such as Artur Braus), the Yeagerists are generally considered a populist movement.
2 HARSH REALITY: The Yeagerists Were Ultimately Defeated
An uncomfortable truth about being a Yeagerist is that they were ultimately defeated. Not only did the heroes inflict significant damage against them during the raid on the harbor, but Eren himself was also slain before he could complete his mission and guarantee Eldian prosperity.
Consequently, the Yeagerists are considered the "losers" of the conflict, even if many of their ideologies would remain in the hearts of the Eldian people for wars to come in the future. Regardless, former members are placed in a particularly awkward position since the remaining twenty percent of the global population will never forget their actions.
1 PERK: The Yeagerists Were Proven Right In The Distant Future
In the distant future after the series' main story takes place, the armies of the world rallied against the Eldians and began bombing Paradis rigorously. It is implied that their actions ultimately resulted in the island nation's destruction.
As uncomfortable as it might be, this added credibility to the Yeagerists' initial claim that the Eldians could not co-exist with the rest of the world. While it is still difficult to justify their actions, Paradis would not have been destroyed if the Rumbling was completed successfully.
