Mikasa is one of the best characters in Attack on Titan. Not only is she incredibly powerful due to her Ackerman blood, which resulted in her being the strongest soldier in the 104th Cadet Corps, she's also had one of the most interesting and saddest backstories in the manga.
But what's even more important than those things is how much she cares about the people she is closest to. She's kind, loyal, and protective of her friends, and these ten are her best throughout the whole story.
10 Hange And Mikasa Experienced Some Of The Most Important Moments Of Paradis' History Together
The soldiers in the Survey Corps became a great team over the years. Hange and Mikasa were often close to each other and experienced some of their most important moments with the other by their side. Whether it be when they first suspected Reiner and Bertholdt of being the Armored and Colossal Titans, when they discovered that humanity lived outside of the walls, or when they played important roles in stopping the Rumbling, Mikasa and Hange probably wouldn't have made it as far as they did if it weren't for the other.
9 Annie And Mikasa Put Their Differences Aside By The End Of The Manga
Back when they were soldiers in the 104th Cadet Corps, Mikasa and Annie did not get along at all, and when it was discovered that Annie was the Female Titan, Mikasa did everything that she could to defeat her. However, once Annie broke out of her crystal, she teamed up with the Survey Corps and Warrior Unit to stop Eren. During this time, Mikasa and Annie were able to look past their differences and became friends.
8 Kiyomi Cared A Lot About Her Even Before They Met
Mikasa's ancestors were the rulers of a country called Hizuru, which Kiyomi was an ambassador of. She was thrilled when she went to Paradis and met Mikasa, letting her know that she would be there for her.
Mikasa was shocked to find out the truth of her past and wasn't comfortable being a powerful figure in a nation she barely knew about, but Kiyomi ended up staying at Paradis for a long time and the two often saw each other.
7 Hannes Always Looked Out For Her
Though he wasn't the best soldier, Hannes did look out for Mikasa, as well as Eren and Armin. If it weren't for him, she would have most likely died along with the Yeagers. Years later, when Eren was captured by Reiner and Bertholdt, Hannes reassured her that Eren would be safe, reminding her of the past when Eren always stood back up when beaten down. He died protecting the two of them from the Titan that ate Carla.
6 Jean Is One Of Her Oldest Friends And He Had A Crush On Her
When Mikasa joined the military, she met Jean, who quickly grew romantic feelings for her. Though she never reciprocated the feelings, the two would became close as they fought alongside each other for years as members of the Survey Corps. Due to Jean being a great leader and how strong Mikasa was, the two made a good team and wouldn't have been able to accomplish some of the things they did without each other.
5 Historia Let Her Live In Paradis Despite Her Betraying Eren And The Yeagerists
Despite knowing each other for years, Historia and Mikasa weren't that close until the second half of the series. Once Historia became queen, Mikasa showed her a lot of respect, and when Historia learned about Mikasa's ancestry, she was very happy to be able to relate to her.
Even though Historia ruled over Paradis, many of the Eldians who lived there looked at Eren as their leader, while Mikasa knew that he was wrong. Because of this, Historia made sure that Mikasa could return to Paradis safely and that even if her people considered her to be a traitor, it would still be her home.
4 Levi And Mikasa Made A Good Team
Mikasa hated Levi when they first met, not knowing that they were actually distant relatives. Because of their connection to Eren and how they were the two strongest soldiers in Paradis, the two quickly learned that they needed to work together.
They helped save Eren many times, from making sure that the Female Titan wouldn't capture him to assisting him in his attack on Marley. Even though Levi was considered to be humanity's strongest soldier, Mikasa would eventually surpass him, proving to be the stronger Ackerman at the end of the series.
3 Sasha Was The First Person She Got Close To When She Joined The Military
When Mikasa joined the 104th Cadet Corps, Sasha was the first friend that she made. She would often joke around with Sasha, blaming her for small things and making her think that she would give her food, but the two were always close. When Sasha was shot by Gabi when they had invaded Marley, Mikasa was shocked and ran over to help her, but it was too late.
2 The Friend She Had For The Longest Time Was Armin
Armin was one of the first friends Mikasa ever made, knowing him long before the two became soldiers. They always made a great team since he was as smart as she was strong. They had been through a lot over the years and helped each other through it all. Mikasa was devastated when Armin nearly burned to death until Levi saved his life, and the two stayed by each other's side even after Eren betrayed them. Seeing as how they both survived beyond the final battle, these two are each other's oldest friend.
1 She Loved Eren More Than Anyone
Even though Eren would eventually deceive her, Mikasa loved him more than anyone and anything. When Mikasa's parents were killed and she was captured by three human traffickers, Eren came to her rescue and became her new family. She joined the Survey Corps in order to help Eren and almost lost the will to live when she thought he had died.
After saving him many times, she ended up being the one to kill him at the end of the manga, decapitating him as she kissed him goodbye. She then brought him back to Paradis and had him buried underneath the tree they often visited as children.
