Classic '80s Cartoon SilverHawks Is Getting a Revival | CBR

The Nacelle Company, known for producing Netflix's The Toys That Made Us, is reviving the classic 1980s cartoon SilverHawks.

"SilverHawks is a beloved franchise that has been overlooked for far too long," said Brian Flynn, the founder and owner of toy company and SilverHawks IP holder Super7. "We are super excited to be working with Nacelle to bring SilverHawks back into the limelight for the die-hard fans as well as a new generation of fans to experience the magic of SilverHawks for the first time."

"When I spoke with Brian Flynn the first time, I was like the character Yes-Man! 'Yessss, just tell me where to sign!'" The Nacelle Company founder and CEO Brian Volk-Weiss added.

Originally developed by Rankin/Bass Productions and animated by Pacific Animation Corporation, SilverHawks debuted in 1986 and ran for 65 episodes. The show was likened to ThunderCats, albeit with a space setting, and centered on a group of heroes that are "partly metal, partly real." The show also spawned a seven-issue comic book series under Marvel's Star Comics imprint.

Cast, crew, network/streaming platform and a targeted premiere date for the SilverHawks revival have yet to be confirmed.
