DC: 10 Henchmen That Are Stronger Than The Main Villain | CBR

Being a supervillain in DC Comics like Joker or Lex Luthor requires a lot of time, effort, and planning. It also requires reliable henchmen who can enforce the main villain's will on their enemies. If any villain is going to be respected and feared by their enemies, they need henchmen who can make that happen through sheer force.

But there have been more than a few occasions that the henchmen are actually more powerful than their bosses. In those cases, Penguin, Lex, and Joker had better have some sort of control mechanism in place or they'll quickly find themselves replaced as the heads of their respective operations.

10 Harley Quinn Is A Much Better Fighter Than Joker

For almost as long as there's been a Batman trying to protect Gotham, there's been a Joker trying to burn it down for no real reason. But as frightening and menacing as Joker is, Harley Quinn might actually be more dangerous.

At the very least, Harley is tougher than her ex-boyfriend and partner in crime. In a one-on-one straight-up fight, Harley could easily take the Joker. The only problem for her is she lacks his viciousness and commitment to unbridled violence.

9 Punchline Is Also Tougher Than The Joker

When Harley and Joker finally called it quits, it left the Clown Prince of Crime truly alone for the first time in many years. Not one to sit at home and pout, Joker got back in the mix, finding himself a new criminal partner and life partner.

Punchline might be even nastier than Harley ever was. At the same time, there's a good chance that she might be tougher than her, too. Joker has a habit of bringing in henchpeople who could destroy him, and Punchline would annihilate him if she was so inclined.

8 Duela Dent Should Fear Enigma

The daughter of The Riddler, Enigma is a second-generation player in the masked person game. She has been a hero alongside the Teen Titans on many occasions. At the same time, she's also been a criminal, riding shotgun with Duela Dent, the daughter of Harvey 'Two-Face" Dent.

While Duela is usually the one in charge of their partnership, she should not take Enigma's skills for granted. She could easily take Duela down if she felt like it. And that moment will eventually come at some point.

7 The Walrus Would Destroy Black Mask

Carving out a spot in the criminal world of Gotham is no easy task. There's no shortage of ambitious and malevolent masterminds running around the city, cutting out their slices of the pie. Fortunately for Black Mask, he had his father's money and power as a jumping-off point.

At one point, a villain called the Walrus was his henchman. Black Mask was able to keep him in check but it's not hard to imagine what would have happened if he hadn't. There would have been a couple of big, metal tusks stabbing through his chest, and that's the best-case scenario.

6 Ignatius Ogilvy Would Happily Kill The Penguin

The Penguin has a lot of qualities that make him a feared crime lord in Gotham. He's brilliant, Machiavellian, and amoral. Keeping all of that in mind, he doesn't really cut a physically imposing figure on any level. That's why he's had plenty of henchmen over the years.

One of them was Ignatius Ogilvy, a villain who was given powers thanks to a cocktail of Venom, Man-Bat Serum, and Poison Ivy's mojo. Eventually, Ignatius did strike out on his own and overshadow his former boss. That's no surprise as he absolutely out-powers Penguin.

5 Non Is A Kryptonian To Be Feared, Even By Zod

While Superman, Supergirl, and their allies have always been heroes to Earth, that doesn't mean that all Kryptonians are good. General Zod has long been a prime example of the worst that Kryptonian society had to offer. Then there's Non.

Being a general means having an army and one of Zod's most loyal soldiers has long been the massive Non. And Zod should be incredibly grateful for Non's loyalty. He could dismember the General without breaking a sweat if he ever felt the need to do so.

4 Ra's Al Ghul Should Be Careful With Fireball

When it comes to finding allies to help in his mission, Ra's al Ghul can be quite convincing. A number of people have fallen for his compelling arguments about saving the world from itself. That's how the League of Assassin's filled its numbers out.

One of his recruits was a man named Fireball. His pyrokinetic abilities are both impressive and destructive. Fireball has worked with a few different villains, though many specifically identify him with Ra's. But if Ra's ever crossed Fireball, he would be looking for a Lazarus Pit quite quickly.

3 Mercy Could Easily Take Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor is a genius. There's no disputing that. But what he chooses to use his genius for is questionable, to say the least. Rather than trying to make the world a better place, Luthor has long used his phenomenal intellect to torment Superman.

At least he's smart enough to surround himself with people who are good at the things he isn't. Mercy has long been his aide de camp and key bodyguard. Hopefully, Luthor is also smart enough to realize that he cannot take her in a legit fight.

2 Clayface Was Used By The Riddler And Hush

When The Riddler and Hush began their plot against Batman, they knew it would require some significant manpower. They coerced and manipulated a variety of villains and heroes from around Gotham and beyond to their cause.

One of those villains was the version of Clayface who was around at that time. They used him to impersonate a variety of people, including a "resurrected" Jason Todd. The reality of the situation was that neither Riddler nor Hush could defeat Clayface in combat if it came down to it.

1 The Robins Might Be Scarier Than The Batman Who Laughs

A few years ago, DC Comics answered the question of what would happen to Batman if he went fully over the edge. The answer was The Batman Who Laughs, a version of the Dark Knight who had become an unhinged, Joker-ized killing machine.

He also traveled with a pack of deranged children dressed like Robin. They were actually more frightening than The Batman Who Laughs as they were much more violent and much less in control. If they turned on him, The Batman Who Laughs would be utterly screwed.
