Paramount+ will continue to embrace Evil, renewing the horror/supernatural series for Season 3.
The news comes just a few weeks into Evil's second season, which, according to the streamer, is "one of the service's top acquisition drivers, with viewership growing week over week compared to the first season." New episodes of the 13-episode season drop weekly on Sundays at 3:00 a.m. EST.
The series follows psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), priest-in-training David Acosta (Mike Colter) and tech expert Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) as they investigate seemingly supernatural and paranormal phenomena. So far in Season 2, the team has looked into a man claiming to be possessed by Archangel Michael and a young girl being controlled by an Islamic spirit — or jinn. They are also being forced by the Church to work with Kristen's arch-enemy Leland Townsend (Michael Emerson), who claims to be possessed by the Devil.
CBS Studios, which produces Evil, also announced a five-year overall deal with the show's creative team, Robert and Michelle King, according to Variety. The two are also the creators of Paramount+'s The Good Fight and Spectrum's The Bite.
"We've been part of the CBS family for over a decade and couldn't be more thrilled to continue the relationship," said Robert and Michelle. "George Cheeks, David Nevins, David Stapf and his team have been the most supportive, thoughtful partners imaginable. We look forward to many more shows for many more years."
The Synopsis for Evil Season 2 can be found below:
Evil is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. The series focuses on a skeptical female psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a contractor as they investigate the Church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and hauntings. Their job is to assess if there is a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.
The second season brings evil closer to home. Kristen struggles with her darker nature, while David suffers temptation as he gets closer to his ordination. Meanwhile Ben is visited by night terrors that prey on his greatest fears.
Evil stars Katja Herbers as Kristen Bouchard, Mike Colter as David Acosta, Aasif Mandvi as Ben Shakir, Michael Emerson as Leland Townsend, Christine Lahti as Sheryl, Kurt Fuller as Dr. Boggs, Brooklyn Shuck as Lynn Bouchard, Skylar Gray as Lila Bouchard, Maddy Crocco as Lexis Bouchard and Dalya Knapp as Laura Bouchard. Season 2 premieres Sunday, June 20 on Paramount+.
