The Justice League is one of the most powerful teams in the DC Universe. Consisting of some of the greatest heroes on the planet, the Justice League has been facing down the gravest threats the Multiverse can throw at it, from cosmic cataclysms to the most dangerous villains in existence. While most people know about the team's heavy hitters, they're only half the story.
The Justice League has had many, many members over the years and many of them aren't as nearly well known as the Big Seven-Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. However, some of these lesser-known Leaguers are just as powerful as the famous ones.
10 Tomorrow Woman Had A Short Yet Heroic Tenure With The Team
Tomorrow Woman appeared out of nowhere to join the JLA, using her powerful telekinetic talents to help the team against the technological menace known as IF, a machine from the future. However, it was all a ruse, as she was created by T.O. Morrow, one of the team's best B-list villains, to destroy them from within.
However, in her short time with the team, she learned what friendship and camaraderie was. She sacrificed herself for her newfound friends, using the weapon meant to destroy the Justice League to defeat IF. Strangely enough, Morrow still considered it a win, as she was able to defeat her programming, proving how good he was at making androids.
9 Red Tornado Is One Of The League's Greatest Tanks
Red Tornado was another creation of T.O. Morrow that ended up joining the League. Reddy, as he would become affectionately known to the team, broke his programming and joined up, eventually getting possessed by a wind elemental and gaining even more power. Red Tornado would go on to become one of the team's most stalwart members.
Before gaining the power of the wind elemental he was formidable but, afterward, his powers increased a hundredfold. On top of that, he was super strong and durable, making him one of the League's most valuable members for years.
8 Firestorm Is One Of The Most Powerful Leaguers Ever
Firestorm hasn't been a member of the Justice League for a long time but when he was, he was easily one of the most powerful heroes on the team. He was super strong and durable, could fly, fire powerful blasts of nuclear energy, and transmute matter. With powers like that, he pretty much made the rest of the League superfluous and if it wasn't for the immaturity of the Ronnie Raymond half of him that controlled things, he probably wouldn't have needed the rest of the team.
Firestorm was the team's literal nuclear option, able to stand against the most powerful foes and defeat them or use his matter transmuting abilities for all manner of purposes.
7 Orion Joined The Team To Stand Against The Anti-Sun Mageddon
Orion has always been one of the most powerful New Gods but he wasn't exactly known for joining up with the Justice League like Mister Miracle and Big Barda were. However, when the Anti-Sun Mageddon rose up from the depths of the Underverse, Orion joined Big Barda in offering their services to the League in the name of New Genesis.
Bringing the power of the Astro-Force to the Justice League, Orion proved just how powerful he could be up against foes like Starro and Mageddon itself. Prophesied to kill Darkseid, Orion proved clutch the short time he was with the team.
6 Vixen's Power Grew Over The Years
Vixen first joined the League during its disastrous Detroit days, using the power of the Tantu totem, which allowed her to tap into the Red and take on the characteristics of animals, to battle evil. However, it was her later tenure with the team where her powers really blossomed, as she gained the ability to mimic the powers of her teammates as well - all life forms are technically animals, after all.
This made her a much more formidable opponent, making it so the League had two Supermans, two Flashes, et cetera. This newfound facet of her power made her a devastating force on the team.
5 Donna Troy Brought Amazonian Muscle To The Team In Wonder Woman's Place
While Dick Grayson served as Batman, he took over the Justice League, bringing new members to the team, some of whom were old friends of his. One of these friends was Donna Troy and she served as the team's Wonder Woman analog, bringing unprecedented power to the team. Troy's amazing strength, speed, and skills made her one of the most formidable members of Grayson's League.
The Justice League always needs some Amazonian muscle and Donna Troy served admirably. Her powers, skills, and experience with the Titans made her an excellent team member and an asset to this short-lived incarnation of the League.
4 Mon-El Acted As The Superman Of Dick Grayson's Justice League
Mon-El is mostly known as a member of the Legion of Superheroes but he also served with Dick Grayson's Justice League. Released from the Phantom Zone in the 21st century by Superman, he was given an antidote that was supposed to deal with his lead poisoning, lethal to a Daxamite, and joined the Justice League.
Daxamites have all of the powers of Superman, so Mon-El acted as the team's powerhouse. Filling the role of Superman is never easy, but Mon-El proved it was possible, until the antidote he used wore off and he had to go back to the Phantom Zone.
3 Animal Man Is One Of The Most Powerful People On The Planet
Animal Man has rarely been a member of the main Justice League. His first tenure with the Justice League was with the Justice League Europe in the team's embassy days and he mostly joined the team for the stipend. Later, he would join the Justice League Dark, helping the team fight against mystical threats.
The most powerful user of the Red on the planet, Animal Man's skills are so powerful that he can even tap into the abilities of extraterrestrial animals light-years away. As the avatar of the Red on Earth, Animal Man has proven his worth whenever he joins the League.
2 Metamorpho's Element Powers And Super Strength Have Served Him Well Over The Years
Metamorpho is one of Silver Age DC's weirdest heroes and that's saying something. Gaining his powers on an expedition to Egypt, Rex Mason was granted the ability to transform his body into different elements. This gave him amazing power but also gave him the look of a freak, something that greatly affected his personal life.
Metamorpho would eventually join the League, using his element powers to his advantage. He would learn to transform different parts of his body into different elements, creating combinations that helped himself and his teammates in battle.
1 Dr. Fate Is One Of The Most Powerful Magic Users In The DC Universe
Dr. Fate is better known for being a member of the Justice Society but he has also been on the Justice League. Joining up in the days of the Justice League International, Fate brought a lot of power to the team, his mystical might giving them the extra punch they needed. He was probably the most powerful member of the team during his tenure.
Powered by Nabu, a Lord of Order, the Helmet of Fate confers great power upon its bearer and the Tower of Fate contains some of the greatest magical tomes in all of existence. This gave Dr. Fate a heads up over his foes and makes him supremely powerful.
