The season finale of Loki went out with a bang in terms of viewership.
According to data from Samba TV, the Season 1 conclusion of Loki was viewed by 1.9 million domestic households from July 14-18. Loki came in ahead of the U.S. season finale viewership figures for WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which were seen by 1.4 million and 1.7 million households respectively.
Loki's viewership achievements were not just limited to the U.S. It also hit viewership highs for a Disney+/Marvel Studios season finale in other territories like the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia over the same period of time. Further data for the Loki season finale indicates that the episode appealed heavily to viewers 54 and younger while U.S. cities like Portland, OR and Seattle, WA over-indexed the most in terms of viewership.
Given these figures, it's no surprise that Loki's scored a renewal for a second season, the first instance of a live-action Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe show obtaining additional seasons. Details on the upcoming season's plot or even its creative team remain unknown, but previous reports indicated that Loki's next season would start filming in January 2022.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston. Season 1 is now streaming on Disney+, while Season 2 has yet to receive a premiere date.
