The Marvel Universe is a fictional realm that is filled to the brim with battles between good and evil. Superheroes and supervillains constantly square off for the fate of the universe, planets, or just a neighborhood. The types of conflicts and the ideologies that motivate them vary greatly, and there are different dynamics fueling every showdown between a hero and a villain.
This leads into some strange territory at times, with some heroes and villains actually becoming friends at times. Sometimes a hero and a villain will find they have a lot in common and actually become friends, even if they still have to stand on opposite sides at times.
10 Spider-Woman Was Romantically Involved With Porcupine For A While
This romance was sparked by Spider-Woman, aka Jessica Drew, and the low-rent villain known as the Porcupine. However, Spider-Woman eventually helped Porcupine, aka Roger Gocking, to investigate the disappearance of his ex-wife.
Porcupine helped Spider-Woman with this and a few follow-up jobs. The two grew fond of one another and struck up a romance. Roger even helped Jessica after she gave birth to Gerry. However, Roger began to feel forgotten by Jessica with her renewed interest in superheroing, and Roger left Jessica.
9 Namor And Doctor Doom Used To Team Up Regularly
This is a complicated one, as Namor the Sub-Mariner has a long history of being a villain to the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. However, he's been a member of the Avengers, Defenders, and X-Men as well. Regardless, he and Doctor Doom have been allies on several occasions, particularly in the pages of a series called Supervillain Team-Up.
Namor and Doom are both arrogant and bullish heads of their respective states. One would imagine that they would grate on each other's nerves, and they would sometimes clash. However, they still consider one another, if not friends, at least comrades.
8 Apocalypse And Rictor Have Developed A Mysterious Bond
Since the establishment of Krakoa, Apocalypse has taken a special interest in establishing a school of mutant-based magic and sorcery. While pursuing this goal, he has become something of a mentor to Rictor, a younger mutant and fellow member of Excalibur. Apocalypse seems to think that Rictor might be a key to creating mutant magic.
Despite Apocalypse's past, Rictor has begun to trust En Sabah Nur and even began defending him when others criticized Apocalypse. With Apocalypse leaving Krakoa after the X of Swords story, Rictor has been eager to bring Apocalypse back.
7 Venom And Spider-Man Went From Brutal Foes To Friends
Venom began his career as a vicious enemy to the Amazing Spider-Man. However, as Eddie Brock began to get past his hatred of Peter Parker, he started to try and use the Venom symbiote to help others. This started with him leaving New York for San Francisco, but Spider-Man still believed that Venom was nothing more than a villainous monster.
After Eddie Brock got the Venom symbiote back from Flash Thompson, Eddie continued his mission to do better. Ultimately, Venom's commitment to doing what's right has earned him a good friend in Spider-Man.
6 Black Panther Helped Redeem Thunderball Of The Wrecking Crew
Elliot Franklin was a brilliant physicist before being arrested and meeting the Wrecker. After gaining the same powers as the Wrecker, Franklin became Thunderball and a member of the Wrecking Crew. Over the years, the Wrecking Crew has been a dangerous foe of the Hulk, Thor, the Avengers, and really any hero they came across.
The Black Panther eventually sought out Thunderball and offered him a new lease on life, and Eliot has taken it. Thunderball is now a scientific researcher that works for Wakanda and a friend and ally to King T'Challa.
5 Boomerang Has Become Spider-Man's Crimefighting Partner
Fred Myers, aka Boomerang, is another former Spider-Man villain that has sought redemption. Boomerang has tried to become a better person and has even partnered with Spider-Man on several occasions.
Unfortunately for Peter Parker, Fred Myers is also his roommate and not a very good one at that. Despite how obnoxious and cocky Boomerang can be, Spider-Man has still come to call him a friend.
4 Doctor Strange Helped Doctor Doom Save The Multiverse
When the Multiverse seemed to be coming to an end with the Final Incursion, Doctor Strange had left Earth-616 in search of a solution in the remaining worlds. In his searches, he found Doctor Doom and the Molecule Man on their own mission to save what was left of reality. This wasn't the first time the two had teamed up though, as Strange helped Doom fight Mephisto before this.
Strange ended up helping Doom and Molecule Man, and, when Doom remade reality into Battleworld, Doctor Strange became Doom's closest advisor. Strange helped Doom rule Battleworld, but he turned on Doom when what remained of Earth's heroes arrived to restore reality.
3 Loki Once Owed Spider-Man A Favor After The Webhead Helped Him
Loki has several children running around across the cosmos, and one of them, named Tessa Black, became the vessel of an entity called Morwen. Loki ended up getting the help of Spider-Man to free Tessa, and Loki told Spider-Man that he owed him a favor.
Spider-Man would later team with Loki again when the latter was holding the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. Peter called in his debt, and Loki helped him. The two still seemed to be on friendly terms at the end of this exchange.
2 Black Bolt And The Absorbing Man Spent Hard Time Together
When an entity called the Jailer put Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans, in his prison, Black Bolt discovered that the Absorbing Man was imprisoned alongside him. Black Bolt's powers were being suppressed, so the two were able to communicate and get to know one another.
The two became friends, and Absorbing Man sacrificed himself to help Black Bolt escape the Jailer. Black Bolt mourned the Absorbing Man and was elated when it was revealed that Carl "Crusher" Creel was still alive. Black Bolt even defended the Absorbing Man when Captain America tried to arrest him.
1 Adam Warlock And Thanos Went From Archenemies To Close Friends (For A Time)
Adam Warlock was one of the most stalwart enemies of Thanos during many of the Mad Titan's worst rampages. Warlock was even the one who finally seized the Infinity Gauntlet after Thanos constructed it with the intent of remaking reality.
However, after the Infinity Gauntlet was taken apart, Thanos began to reevaluate himself, and he joined Adam Warlock's Infinity Watch--a team intended to keep anyone else from gathering the Infinity Gems and recreating the Gauntlet. The two were friends for some time...until Thanos broke bad again and started his bloody crusade anew.
