In My Hero Academia, the supporting character Shoto Todoroki has a complicated relationship with his family. His bitter feud with his tyrannical father Endeavor is well-known, while his mother, Rei, is a different story. She is naturally a kind and nurturing person who simply couldn't endure being married to Enji Todoroki and his forceful ways.
Rei's marriage to Enji was nothing more than a Quirk marriage, among other inter-family politics, and My Hero Academia fans might wonder what sort of man Rei would have married if she had gotten a chance. In an alternate timeline, Rei could have gotten her pick from many fine suitors from across the world of anime, and started a loving family with any number of them.
10 Isshin Kurosaki Is A Brave & Funny Family Man (Bleach)
Isshin Kurosaki was little more than comic relief when he first appeared in this shonen series, but there is more to him than meets the eye. Isshin had once been a Soul Reaper, Captain Isshin Shiba, and he didn't hesitate to sacrifice his powers to save Masaki's life one fateful night.
Isshin later married Masaki and had three children with her, and he dearly missed his wife when she passed. Despite his grief, Isshin has remained strong, and he is committed to his three children. Rei would be greatly impressed.
9 Maes Hughes Was A Model Parent & Officer (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
Like Isshin Kurosaki, Colonel Maes Hughes may have been a joker, but he was absolutely committed to both his family and his duty in the Amestris military. Maes was a skilled and highly popular officer, and he endured the horrors of the Ishval Civil War without breaking. He has remarkable fortitude.
Maes may not have a Quirk or alchemy of his own, but that's not what Rei needs from a partner. She would trade any Quirk for a potential husband who would love her and protect her, and Maes would be an excellent candidate. He would dote on any and all of their ice-slinging children.
8 Captain Akitaru Obi Is Reliable & Dependable To The Last (Fire Force)
Captain Akitaru Obi of company 8 is similar to Maes Hughes, utterly lacking a supernatural ability while being surrounded by superpowered people. However, Rei has no interest in Quirk marriages; she only wants a spouse who will support her and respect her. Akitaru Obi is ready.
Not much is known of Akitaru's personal life or backstory, but his personality and actions in the story are promising enough. With his honesty, courage, loyalty, and integrity, there is no doubt that he could raise a happy family with Rei Todoroki.
7 Thors Risked His Life For His Family Twice (Vinland Saga)
Thors was once known as the Troll of Jom, a nigh-unkillable warrior fighting for the Jomsvikings in the late 900s. Eventually, though, Thors grew weary of the fighting, and he fell in love with Floki's daughter, Helga. They ran off together to start a new life, despite the risks.
Thors is determined to use his strength to defend his family and promote peace, not make war. He cares deeply for his wife and children on Iceland's shore, and he gave his life to protect his son Thorfinn when Askeladd cornered him at the Faroe Islands. Rei couldn't ask for a braver spouse.
6 Byakuya Ishigami Helped His Foster Son, Senku, Realize His Potential (Dr. Stone)
Byakuya Ishigami played only a background role in this semi-isekai series, but even with just a few flashback appearances, it became clear that Byakuya Ishigami is a steller anime dad. He did have his own ambitions, but he invested most of his energy into his foster son, the brilliant Senku.
Byakuya always put Senku first, and when he returned to Earth after the petrification wave, he spent decades setting up Senku's future success, since he had so much faith in the boy. That, and he is a funny and kind person who can get along with anyone. This is just what Rei is looking for.
5 Jonathan Joestar Will Give Anything For The People He Cares About (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)
Jonathan Joestar was the hero of the Phantom Blood story arc, and he was a stellar shonen protagonist to the end. He fancied himself a proper Victorian gentleman, and he proved it when he fearlessly faced Dio Brando and defeated him, all while showing kindness and compassion to the people who mattered most to him.
Jonathan may be strong, but he was never once arrogant, and he never made anything about himself. Instead, he was ready to face any danger and pay any price to protect the people dear to him, including his wife, Erina. If Jonathan had been born in the present day, or Rei had been a young woman in the 1880s, they would be an ideal match.
4 Hakoda Was A Model Parent & Leader Of Men (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Hakoda of the Southern Water Tribe commanded the respect of everyone around him, most of all his fellow Water Tribe warriors and his son and daughter. Hakoda didn't appear much in the series until Book Three: Fire, but he made a great impression during that time.
As a true tribal chief, Hakoda is brave, smart, and charismatic, and he is ready to take on any challenge and pay any price to defend his tribe and family. He has great faith in his son and daughter and is immensely proud of their progress. Rei would be delighted to meet him, and vice versa.
3 Kazuma Sohma Was A Father Figure To Kyo (Fruits Basket)
Kyo Sohma was a hotheaded and rebellious kid, and he got along terribly with his cruel father. Fortunately, Kazuma Sohma is a different story. Kazuma is Kyo's martial arts instructor, and Kyo has long since viewed him as a substitute father figure.
Tohru Honda got a wonderful impression of Kazuma Sohma, and Rei Todoroki would, too. Kazuma is wise, level-headed, and totally dedicated to giving Kyo the best possible life as his unofficial son. Such a nurturing spirit is what Rei needs in a husband, without a doubt.
2 Asuma Sarutobi Was Totally Dedicated To Kurenai & His Students (Naruto)
Asuma Sarutobi was the jonin in charge of Team 10, and he was almost like a father figure to them. He cared deeply for his three students' well-being, and he was tough but fair on the three of them. Asuma was also romantically linked to Kurenai Yuhi and made many charming gestures of affection to her.
All this suggests that Asuma is a rather paternal person, and although he died before his child was born in Shippuden, there is no doubt that he would have doted on his child. Rei Todoroki would be delighted to meet him if Kurenai weren't in the picture.
1 Ochaco Uraraka's Father Is Clearly A Wonderful Parent (My Hero Academia)
Rei's own anime universe is home to a few notable fathers, and not all of them are tyrants such as Enji, or absent, like Izuku's. Ochaco's father's backstory and even his real name are currently unknown, but based on his brief appearances in the main story and in flashbacks, Mr. Uraraka makes a good case for himself.
It's already abundantly clear that Mr. Uraraka is part of a happy and healthy household with his wife and daughter, and he is immensely proud of what Ochaco has accomplished thus far. He celebrates her victories, comforts her when she is defeated, and has total faith in her. That's the kind of man Rei needs as the father of her children.
