Bloober Team confirmed that none of its upcoming projects are related to the Silent Hill franchise.
In a statement to IGN, Bloober Team CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski clarified that the studio's upcoming games have nothing to do with the recently announced partnership with Konami. "Online speculations based on outdated or incomplete information can often lead to strange theories among gamers, so we appreciate you asking us directly."
"At Bloober Team we have two active internal projects, one in the production phase and one in the pre-production phase," continues Gawlikowski. "Both are going to be bigger in scope than The Medium, however, neither of them is based on themes or premises that have been circulating online in the last days."
Rumors of a new Silent Hill game began to spread following the announcement that Konami and Bloober Team were working together on a variety of new projects. Due to Bloober Team's recent history of exclusively developing horror games, many fans speculated that the studio was working on a new installment in the Silent Hill series.
Widely considered to be one of the best horror game series of all time, Silent Hill is seen as a dormant franchise by many fans. Following the cancelation of Silent Hills, a game announced via a playable teaser known as PT in 2014, Konami has yet to continue the series, much to the frustration of fans.
Konami's most recent Silent Hill endeavor involves a limited-time special edition skateboard bearing an image of the franchises' nurse monsters. Fans speculated that the release of new Silent Hill merchandise was an indication of an imminent announcement.
Bloober Team's most recent game is The Medium, a psychological horror experience that was met by mixed reviews from fans and critics. Launching as an Xbox and PC exclusive on Jan. 28, The Medium arrives on PlayStation 5 on Sept. 3.
