Rick and Morty’s Turkey Soldiers Turn the President Into His Ally

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Rick and Morty Season 5, Episode 6, "Rick & Morty's Thanksploitation Spectacular," which aired Sunday on Adult Swim.

In Rick and Morty, while they've got enemies in space and other dimensions, they also have haters on Earth. It's no surprise, especially with Rick treating everyone insignificantly, even politicians. This led to a massive rift with him and the U.S. President over the five seasons so far; however, while the Head of State has been Rick's most hateful enemy, the latest war with super-soldier turkeys turns the President into Rick's biggest ally.

The scientist and Morty disguise themselves as turkeys to get a Thanksgiving pardon, but the President anticipated this. He's got a science team of his own, turning soldiers into combat turkeys so they can trap Rick and Morty. The icing on the cake is the President demands to be turned into one too, as he wants the glory of knocking Rick out.

Unfortunately, the plan backfires, and after the President loses his locator, his scientists convert the wrong turkey into human form. This involves injecting it with the President's DNA, so what ensues is a hybrid who Congress loves because he handed out money to them for special projects and raised their salaries.

It's why no one cares that he's changing the program and creating bigger, better turkey-hybrids to take over the world. However, Rick and Morty help get the real President back into human form, making it clear that if they help take back America, then they'll get that pardon. A bargain is struck, and during this peacetime, the President actually bonds with Rick and the family for Thanksgiving.

He makes it clear he's got to make hard calls Rick won't like because that's the job. Both men come to an understanding, and while they don't like each other, there's respect. It's why both rock war suits and head to the Capitol to wage war on the turkey-President before he can mutate the entire world. In the heat of battle, Rick lays his life down on the line for the Commander-in-Chief, who does the same.

It's a badass alliance, ending with the President taking Rick and Morty to a chamber where two groups of aliens are hibernating. They're warring aliens, but the President enlists their help, and together, this new coalition brings down the turkey legion once and for all. The President ends up gutting the turkey-President with a corn stalk in the brawl, escaping after the villain self-destructs to garner his moment of glory. Overall, it's an impressive win and shows that the President and Rick may one day trust each other, especially since they make such a strong team.

New episodes of Rick and Morty drop each Sunday at 11 p.m. ET on Adult Swim.
