Star Wars: Every Main Character From The Sequel Trilogy, Ranked From Weakest To Most Powerful

The Star Wars sequel trilogy continued the adventure 30 years after the original trilogy ended, where darkness once again threatens the galaxy. The First Order has invaded from the Unknown Regions, and the New Republic is practically defenseless, except for the self-appointed Resistance. This is a time of heroes and conquerors.

On both sides of the great conflict are mighty warriors of all sorts, from noble Jedi Knights to monstrous Sith Lords, not to mention ace pilots, well-trained soldiers, skilled rogues, and more. Force users tend to be the strongest characters in the Star Wars franchise, though many non-Force users are also formidable in combat, and are not to be underestimated.

10 Han Solo Is A Skilled Gunslinger

The smuggler Han Solo is well-known for being a total scoundrel and rule-breaker, but he has a good heart. He is determined to bring his son, Ben Solo, back from the Dark Side. Han lacks his son's Force talents, but he is a highly skilled gunslinger and smuggler, and he has a gilded tongue as well.

Han has extensive experience in combat, such as from his days in the Galactic Rebellion and all sorts of smuggling jobs across the decades. He may be an ordinary man, but his skills, intuition and luck are all extraordinary. He won't be captured or killed so easily.

9 Chewbacca Shares Han's Experience & Has Superior Physical Strength

The Wookiee smuggler, Chewbacca, has been Han Solo's friend for years now. He and Han met during the events of Solo: A Star Wars story, when Han was tossed into a pit where Chewbacca was chained up. They became allies, and launched a smuggling career together.

Chewbacca, like Han, has serious experience with smuggling, armed combat and flying spaceships, and he also has the natural strength and endurance of the Wookiee race. Han once warned R2-D2 and C-3PO that Wookiees like him can tear people's arms right out of their sockets.

8 Captain Phasma Pushed Herself To The Limit

Captain Phasma is an officer of the First Order, and she takes her duty incredibly seriously. Phasma is utterly dedicated to the First Order's cause, and she also has a reputation for being a perfectionist. That must be stressful, but evidently, it pays off.

Phasma is well-trained in the use of many different weapons, from staves to blaster rifles, and she undergoes rigorous physical training (such as endless patrols) to keep her body strong. She is exactly the kind of soldier the First Order needs to conquer the galaxy.

7 Poe Dameron Is An X-Wing Ace

Although Poe Dameron is an average soldier at best, fighting on the ground was never meant to be his forte. Poe is most comfortable in the skies or in space, and he can make an X-wing fighter dance in his hands. When he is in the cockpit, nothing can touch him.

Poe has shot down an incredible number of First Order TIE fighters, such as during the battle of Takodana, and he helped the Resistance achieve a narrow victory during the initial battle of The Last Jedi before the Resistance fleet made its escape. As Poe put it, he can fly anything, and he really can.

6 General Leia Organa Is Strong In The Force

In her youth, princess Leia Organa was a Rebellion leader and fighter, and she took part in the battle of Endor personally. Later, during the sequel trilogy, Leia retired from the battlefield to lead the Resistance in a non-combat role, though she is not purely an armchair general. She is quite talented with the Force.

After all, Leia is Anakin and Padmé's other child (aside from her twin brother Luke Skywalker) and it shows. Leia is highly attuned to the force, and she is competent with the art of lightsaber combat. She was also fully qualified to help Rey finish her Jedi training during The Rise of Skywalker.

5 Kylo Ren Sought Strength In The Dark Side

Kylo Ren, aka Ben Solo, fell to the Dark Side of the Force and became Supreme Leader Snoke's apprentice for years. Eventually, Kylo Ren was redeemed and returned to the Light Side, but until then, he sought to emulate his fallen grandfather, Darth Vader, by any means necessary.

Kylo Ren wields a peculiar red lightsaber with frightening skill, and he can also use a variety of Force powers, from telekinesis to the ability to extract information from people's minds. He even helped Rey destroy the mighty Darth Sidious, though this cost him his life.

4 Rey Skywalker Learned Quickly So She Could Defeat The Dark Side

The human scavenger known as Rey had an impressive lineage, though she didn't know it for the longest time. Rey dismissed herself as a nobody, but her talents became evident when she met the rogue stormtrooper Finn and began to fight the First Order. Han Solo recognized her as someone who can look after herself.

Rey is Darth Sidious' granddaughter of sorts, and thus she has immense Force powers, and her training with both Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo paid off. Now, Rey has the power to face her grandfather, and the spirits of all fallen Jedi sided with her in the great struggle against the Dark Side.

3 Supreme Leader Snoke Had Immense Force Powers

In the end, Supreme Leader Snoke was little more than a proxy for Darth Sidious, but he was certainly powerful in his own right, and he nearly conquered the galaxy as the overall leader of the First Order. He was never seen using a lightsaber in the movies, but he hardly needed one, either.

Snoke's Force abilities are varied and overwhelming, and he can easily overpower Rey or Kylo Ren one-on-one, which is saying a lot. He can also use Force lightning, as well as telekinesis, and he can clearly sense the emotions of others.

2 Luke Skywalker Is A Jedi, Like His Father Before Him

One of the greatest heroes of the entire Star Wars saga is Luke Skywalker himself, the central character of the original movie trilogy and countless official Star Wars comics. Luke is the son of Anakin Skywalker and Padme, and he lived up to his pedigree and then some. Everyone has recognized his massive power, even his worst enemies.

Luke trained with Obi-Wan Kenobi for a short time, then Jedi Master Yoda, until his training was complete. Luke overwhelmed his father aboard the second Death Star, and a generation later, he gave his life to hold off the First Order with a projection to allow the Resistance time to escape Crait. He died a true legend.

1 Darth Sidious Was The Apex Of The Dark Side

Many terrifying Sith Lords have haunted the galaxy across the millennia, but none of them reached the horrifying heights of power that Darth Sidious did. Born Sheev Palpatine on the idyllic world of Naboo, Sidious was selfish and ambitious ever since his boyhood, and he soon became Darth Plagueis' apprentice.

Sidious carefully and thoroughly researched the Dark Side and the legacy of the Sith, including Sith alchemy, and he became the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. His powers were truly on the next level, and he even cheated death. Ultimately, he faced his demise at the hands of Rey and Ben Solo working together.
