It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Who Survived the Squashing of the Beefs?

If there's one thing fans know about the gang on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it's that they have a lot of enemies. No one could live life the way they do without accumulating a long list of people who outright hate them. But trying to squash those beefs ended with Dennis and Mac's apartment engulfed in flames, leaving fans to wonder which of their enemies managed to survive the deathtrap.

It all went down in Season 9, Episode 10. Dennis and Mac tried to rent a movie, only to get shut down by the McPoyles who had bought the shop. Charlie and Frank were at the mercy of their landlord, Hwang. And Dee had problems getting snacks because Gail the Snail was working at their favorite store. As they so eloquently put it, they were getting jammed up by all the feuds they were involved in.

As such, they did what any reasonable group of people would do and tried to make amends. The plan was to have all their enemies over for dinner, then get them to essentially sign treaties. That group included Gail, the McPoyles, and Hwang. But then Rickety Cricket, Bill Ponderosa, and the random guy they mistook for Bruce Mathis years earlier all showed up too.

Inevitably, Frank accidentally started a fire by burning money in Hwang's face. Instead of warning everyone about what was going on, the gang made a break for it and sealed the door behind them. They basically left all of their enemies to die in an inferno they started. That was certainly one way to squash all their beef, other than literally serving squash and beef, which was Charlie's plan.

This was actually Season 9's final episode, leaving Always Sunny fans to wonder who survived and who didn't. Since then, the vast majority of the characters trapped in the fire have returned to the series at least once. Rickety Cricket, savagely burned on his face, has continued to pop up as his life falls further into ruin.

Oddly enough, Hwang wouldn't appear again until Season 11, Episode 6, when he possibly choked to death on a snake meat sandwich. Whether he survived that incident or not has never been confirmed. Gail the Snail, on the other hand, made her only appearance since the fire in Season 13, Episode 3, when Dee tried to do an all-female reboot of beating the Boggs drinking record on the plane.

The McPoyle situation is a bit less clear. Neither Liam McPoyle nor his brother Ryan has appeared on Always Sunny since the fire. Therefore, it's unclear if they survived or not. The only evidence that exists regarding their fate is in Season 11, Episode 7. The brothers were mentioned at Bill Ponderosa trial, who definitely survived the fire, though they did not appear. That said, this could have been a lie, which is something the McPoyle family has certainly been prone to.

In the end, the only attendee who is never mentioned or seen again is Random Guy. The only reason the gang knew him was that they repeatedly victimized him when they thought he was Bruce Mathis in Season 4, Episode 2. And he was at the party in Season 9 because Mac made the exact same mistake again. While there is no definite evidence that he's dead, not seeing Random Guy again means he may have been a casualty of the squashing of the beefs.
