Marlon Wayans Says a White Chicks Sequel is 'Necessary' | CBR

In 2004, the Wayans brothers released White Chicks, a comedy about two FBI agents that go undercover as two socialite sisters using whiteface. The film was panned by critics, but in recent years, there has been talk of a sequel. Actor Marlon Wayans believes now is the perfect time for one.

In an interview with MovieWeb, Wayans stated, "I think White Chicks 2 is necessary. I think we've tightened up so much that we need to loosen our ties a bit and laugh a little bit." The actor continued, "I don't think Hollywood understands what a juggernaut White Chicks 2 would be. And the world just keeps giving us more [ideas]. White Chicks 2 is writing itself."

While a sequel to White Chicks has not yet been officially announced, actor Terry Crews -- who starred in the 2004 film as basketball player Latrell Spencer -- suggested that White Chicks 2 was in development back in 2019. Marlon Wayans soon debunked the claim, explaining that a deal was not yet in place. No further news has come from the project since then.

White Chicks was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and starred Shawn and Marlon Wayans as Kevin and Marcus Copeland. Despite the film's critical reception and five Razzies nominations, the film grossed $113 million worldwide on a budget of $37 million-- the highest-earning comedy of 2004.
