Marvel's Avengers Features Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch & Loki Easter Eggs

Marvel's Avengers has been reinvigorated thanks to the War for Wakanda expansion. Not only is there a new Avenger, but there's also a new location to explore. The game does a great job at giving players a taste of Wakanda's natural beauty along with its blend of technology and history. Through Black Panther and the other Avengers, players can explore various parts of the African nation, which contain subtle hints towards the game's future.

One of King T'Challa's associates is the mystic elder Zawavari. While the king doesn't share Zawavari's interest in the mystical and spiritual arts, that doesn't stop the elder from continuing his rituals in private. Players can find him in his room at any time, and depending on how long they stay, they may hear him say things that indicate he's in contact with some of Marvel's mystical characters.

Zawavari can be heard apparently speaking with some of Marvel's famous magic users, including Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch. He also speaks with Loki, calling him a "lie-smith," and Thor may complain about Zawavari's contact with his brother. Loki was previously teased in the god's mission chain, but he hasn't been heard from since. Additionally, Brother Voodoo, Wong and the Ancient One are all mentioned in separate conversations.

Each conversation explores the lore surrounding the magical realms of the Marvel Universe, indicating that they could be part of a much larger story. For example, Thor's heroic chain mission could be followed up with a larger Asgardian story involving Loki. Zawavari also has a conversation with Wanda Maximoff that also mentions her brother, Pietro, perhaps hinting Scarlet Witch (and Quicksilver) could take part in a magical adventure the Avengers get wrapped up in. However, the biggest tease involves a conversation with Doctor Strange.

Zawavari is heard telling Strange that people are looking for him, though he hasn't revealed his location. He also says, "I've felt it too," alluding to something peculiar disturbing mystics. While there's nothing else said that indicates who or what is going on, with Doctor Strange involved, it could lead to Baron Mordo or Dormammu making an appearance. Their arrival could usher in the power of the Dark Dimension to Earth in a massive supernatural story.

With the Avengers dealing with the onslaught of AIM along with the forthcoming Kree invasion, the supernatural side of the universe will likely have to wait. However, Zawavari's conversations are, at the very least, clever Easter eggs for fans to stumble upon while also providing plenty of fuel for those looking to speculate on Marvel's Avengers' future storylines. While it's not clear what's coming after the Kree -- or who will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in that fight -- War for Wakanda seems to indicate the mystical side of the Marvel world will be involved.
