Netflix released a new trailer for the sixth and final season of Lucifer.
The trailer teases what's in store for the former Prince of Darkness in Season 6, including the introduction of Brianna Hildebrand's rebellious angel Rory. Lucifer also appears to be taking his recent promotion from Season 5B seriously, as he even explains that he "was the Devil. God now."
Production on Season 6 of Lucifer began in October. Based on the DC/Vertigo Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, the show premiered on Fox in 2016 before being canceled after three seasons. Netflix then revived Lucifer for Season 4 in 2019, subsequently renewing it for Season 5, which was announced as the show's last. Following additional negotiations, however, Lucifer was extended and is now slated to conclude with Season 6.
"Surprisingly, [where we left off] was the easiest endpoint, in the middle of such a curveball," co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich said in June. "When they said, 'Let's have another season,' that was an easy one because the end of Act V of that episode was Lucifer becoming God, and we realized that that was such a great cliffhanger."
Season 6 of Lucifer arrives on Netflix Sept. 10.
