Stargirl: Eclipso's Powers and Agenga Spell Disaster | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Stargirl Season 2, Episode 2, "Summer School: Part Two," which aired Tuesday on the CW.

At the end of Stargirl Season 1, Cindy (Meg DeLacy) went through the Injustice Society's things and found a mystical diamond, which she revealed to be Eclipso (Nick E. Tarabay). Come Stargirl Season 2, Episode 1, audiences got a better understanding of the threat Eclipso poses, as he manipulated a little girl into stealing a present and then did something horrific to her. With Stargirl Season 2, Episode 2, "Summer School: Part Two," audiences now see what Eclipso did exactly to this child, and this time Bobbie (Lesa Wilson), Cindy's stepmother, is the victim.

At the top of the episode, Bobbie is thrilled, dancing in the kitchen and breaking her husband's dishes. She was forced into the role of being the good housewife and stepmom, and she constantly lived in fear of her husband and stepdaughter. With Dragon King dead and Cindy missing, Bobbie believes her nightmare is over; however, this dream ends soon, as Cindy arrives at the door with Eclipso in hand. She uses the diamond to influence Bobbie's mind, as she demands that they go back to how things were.

The next time audiences see Bobbie, she is back in her vintage dress and cleaning up after Cindy's mess. While doing so, Bobbie overhears Eclipso telling her that she will never escape her stepdaughter. This is surprising, since the gem and Cindy are nowhere in sight, so it appears Eclipso can communicate with someone once he makes his first contact with a person.

He reaches out to Bobbie again while she cooks, but this time, he is not just speaking to her. In the reflection of Bobbie's knife, she sees her past life before being abducted, and this vision scares Bobbie so much that she curls up on the floor screaming. Eclipso continues to speak to her, adding that the only way to break free of Cindy is to kill her. With that, Bobbie's eye glows purple, again implying that Eclipso is either possessing her or manipulating her at an extreme level.

When Cindy returns home, Bobbie does exactly what Eclipso recommended, coming at her stepdaughter with a knife. The two fight each other, with Cindy using her retractable blades. Cindy, who's been trained as a weapon, has the upperhand and knocks Bobbie back, begging her to not do anything else. However, while Cindy is willing to stop this fight, Eclipso takes over her body, turning her skin a deep purple while her eyes glow.

She looks similar to the little boy who Eclipso used to manipulate the little girl in Stargirl Season 2, Episode 1, so it's likely that child was used as a conduit, which is now happening to Cindy. In this form, Eclipso then feeds off of Bobbie's anger and corruption, thus killing her and turning her remains to ash. This is also presumably what Eclipso did to the little girl, or something similar to this, as her mother was horrified to see what was left of her daughter.

Cindy then regains control of her body and scolds Eclipso for doing this, as it is her body, and she is supposed to be in control. Eclipso defends himself, claiming that he only did this to protect Cindy from her stepmother, leaving out how he influenced and manipulated Bobbie to do this. While he swears he is only here to serve Cindy, it's clear Eclipso has his own agenda for Stargirl Season 2, which has new episodes airing Tuesdays at 8/7c on the CW.
