Study Finds Hogwarts Has Film and TV's Priciest Bathrooms | CBR

From Harry, Ron and Hermione brewing the Polyjuice potion in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to Julia Roberts submerging herself in a mountain of bubbles in Pretty Woman to Chandler discovering his love of bath salts in Friends, some of the most memorable scenes in film and television take place in the bathroom. A new study reveals how much it would cost to recreate these iconic settings.

Victorian Plumbing, a major online bathroom retailer based in the United Kingdom, analyzed some of the most famous bathrooms in film and television and figured out the price to replicate them in someone's home. Unsurprisingly, the most expensive bathroom on the list is Harry Potter's Gryffindor bathroom, costing a total of £6,096.74 ($7,130.75). Bathrooms are a common setting in the Harry Potter franchise with some of the story's most important scenes occurring in a bath or next to a toilet; for example, Harry, Hermione and Ron defeat a troll in a bathroom in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry figures out the mystery of the golden egg in the prefects' bathroom in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

While not as expensive as the Harry Potter bathroom, the bathroom from 1990's Pretty Woman still comes with a high price tag of £4,793.10 ($5,606.01). Most of the expense comes from the large bathtub, which alone costs more than £1,600 (roughly $1,900).

The bathroom from The Simpsons is priced for significantly less, coming in at a total of £665.85 ($778.78). While more affordable than many of the other bathrooms on the list, this bathroom comes with its own challenges for anyone determined to recreate it, namely finding a full pistachio-colored bathroom set.

However, the study points out that pistachio-colored fixtures are currently on-trend, meaning someone could easily replicate the infamous bathroom from Stanley Kubrick's horror classic The Shining if they are willing to pay £2,321.42 ($2,715.13). While the analysis does not provide suggestions on how to find some of the bathroom's more menacing features (i.e., the ghosts), it does have options for reproducing some of the bold decorative choices seen in the movie.

Other bathrooms that made the list include Tony Montana's bathroom from Scarface, which comes with a price tag of £5,968.23 ($6,980.44), Monica's bathroom from Friends, which costs a total of £1,777.57 ($2,079.05) and the bathroom from the original Home Alone movie, which rings in at a price of £2,769.30 ($3,238.97).

However, not all film and television bathrooms cost a small fortune to replicate. According to the study, someone could recreate the bathroom from the movie Trainspotting -- the critically acclaimed film that follows a group of heroin addicts and explores themes of poverty and urban decay -- for a mere £99.95 ($116.90).
