The Suicide Squad: BossLogic Mashes Bloodsport With The Batman Who Laughs

BossLogic creates a DC amalgam of The Suicide Squad's Bloodsport and DC Comics' The Batman Who Laughs.

The artist started out by posting an image of Bloodsport onto social media with a name tag that reads "Milton," a nod to a moment from the film. The artist didn't stop there though. After re-envisioning the image as a xenomorph from the Alien franchise, he landed on mixing the squad member with the twisted version of Batman.

The Batman Who Laughs is an amalgam of his own. A cross between the Joker and Batman, he is the answer to the question of what happens when Batman breaks his one rule and kills his greatest enemy. The image adds his signature spiked headpiece and blood-ridden appearance to Idris Elba's character.

The creation by the artist comes at a time where one character has his foot in the door of comics, while the other has left the building. Thanks to the film, Bloodsport has seen new popularity and returned to comics with his cinematic look in Robbie Thompson's Suicide Squad run. He first appeared in the series in Suicide Squad #5 as Waller's agent sent to travel the multiverse and do her bidding.

The Batman Who Laughs, however, appears to have seen the end of his time in DC's main continuity. The foe was vanquished by Wonder Woman during the final issue of Dark Nights: Death Metal, and has only been referenced since then. While he will appear in the Batman/Fortnite One-Shot, the event takes place outside of DC's main universe titles.

The work marks another instance of BossLogic combining aspects of two different worlds of pop culture and entertainment. One of his more recent projects combined hip-hop and Marvel's King in Black as the artist created a Knullified version of Kanye West. Referencing Marvel's What If...?, the artist also came up with a look for Tom Holland's Spider-Man crossed with the Punisher.

BossLogic also isn't the only artist commemorating the film with original artwork. DC artist Jim Lee drew an original sketch featuring four characters from the film: Polka-Dot Man, King Shark, T.D.K. and Starro the Conqueror. The sketch is in full color thanks to colors provided by Alex Sinclair.

Bloodsport can be seen in The Suicide Squad film in theaters and streaming on HBO Max, as well as the current Suicide Squad comics run. More about The Batman Who Laughs can be discovered in titles such as Dark Nights: MetalThe Batman Who LaughsDark Nights: Death Metal and others.
