The Witcher Elementa Guide | CBR

Sometimes, it isn't just monsters that trouble The Witcher's Continent -- it's the Continent itself. When the elements themselves seem to come alive thanks to curses or magic, the folk call for witchers. In CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, elementa tend to be found guarding treasure or the secret abodes of elven mages or sorceresses on the run. In Spokko's The Witcher: Monster Slayer, they can be found essentially anywhere.

This shortened bestiary will deal with elementa that show up in both games. As with every other type of creature, it's best to prepare the appropriate oil. In this case, it's best to consider using elementa oil for many of these fights, as well as the tips and tricks this focused bestiary will provide for you to use on the Path.

These creatures were introduced in the Blood and Wine expansion and are only ever found in the Land of a Thousand Fables. In Monster Slayer, players will find them virtually everywhere. There isn't much to be said about fighting them in either games, since a few swings of either a steel or silver sword is enough to defeat them. You don't even need to waste your elementa oil.

They do sometimes provide a few useful materials in Monster Slayer, so if you're looking for them, the best time to go looking for them is at dawn, though they will appear throughout the day. These mischievous creatures also tend to appear around human settlements, so stick to those suburban and urban environments.

These giant statues are brought to life by magic and are often used to guard a mage's laboratory or living quarters. They are often winged, but don't ever actually take flight, which makes encounters with them slightly easier. Since these are creatures of stone, most signs are essentially useless; Quen is the one you want to turn to. Gargoyles are surprisingly fast and incredibly powerful, so focus on dodging their attacks and striking hard. You won't be able to parry their attacks, and it's also not a good idea to attack from range, since they can hurl stones and leap great distances.

In Monster Slayer, fast strikes are ineffective, so use strong attacks. When fighting these creatures, you will almost certainly need a dimeritium bomb or a few basic bombs. Once again, use Quen and focus on your strong attacks. When hunting for them, you'll want to search in suburban areas, since Gargoyles don't tend to stick around populated areas.

These creatures have appeared throughout the video games trilogy and return in Monster Slayer. Much like gargoyles, golems are mindless creatures made of stone who obey their creators completely. They are slightly more nimble than gargoyles and will charge at Geralt in The Witcher 3. Don't try to block or parry their attacks, just dodge and strike. Dimeritium bombs and a fully upgraded whirlwind attack are immensely helpful.

In Monster Slayer, you're likely to find one near forests or around bodies of water, far from human settlements. Once again, if you're fighting one, have a dimeritium bomb on hand. These two-skull creatures won't be easy. Stick to using Quen to protect from their attacks since there's no dodging here. You will likely require a potion to help you. It's recommended you use Thunderbolt or Swift.

There are several different types of elementals in The Witcher 3 and Monster Slayer -- fire, earth and ice. Elementa oil works for all of them, as do dimeritium bombs. Elementals are created through complex magical rituals for the sole purpose of wreaking havoc and causing destruction. Unlike with other creatures, the only thing a witcher can do when faced with an elemental is destroy it.

For fire elementals in The Witcher 3, a Northern Wind bomb and its freezing capabilities will help make the fight easier, as will an upgraded Aard blast. Dodge their attacks and use heavy strikes. Similar tactics will work for Earth elementals, though you need to focus more heavily on dodging their shockwave-causing jumps and their counter-attacks.

In Monster Slayer, use Quen or Aard, toss a dimeritium bomb or two, and time your parries carefully to stay in the fight. With the legendary ice elemental, which can be found around water or during rain, you may want to use the wolverine potion, if you have one.

D'jinni, also known as djinn, are mischievous, borderline evil creatures. They appear in Andrzej Sapkowski's The Last Wish and in CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3. These powerful air spirits can only be captured by especially powerful mages and sorceresses, like Yennefer, with some help from Geralt. When fighting a djinn, Geralt will need dimeritium bombs. Djinn can summon lightning, icicles, cast powerful spells and teleport around its opponent. Do not use Aard or Igni, as these will only make the djinn more powerful and difficult. Stick to Axii and Yrden to make the battle slightly easier. Thankfully, you'll only fight it once.

In Monster Slayer, d'jinni do appear, but they are extremely rare. They aren't vulnerable to much except for dimeritium bombs. If you intend on facing one, make sure you have a solid collection of those at hand, as silver or steel swords don't make a difference here. These are three-skull spirits, so make sure you're well-equipped with decent armor and use Quen to protect yourself from their attacks during this challenging fight.
