Vampirella's longtime nemesis and occasional frenemy Nyx is receiving her own series from Dynamite Entertainment this November.
Written by Christos Gage (Superior Spider-Man, Batman/Fortnite) Nyx's series delves into the mindset of the daughter of Chaos the Mad God, evil overlord of most of Vampirella's foes. The possibility of a happy life for Nyx, her relationship with her father as well as her attitude towards her human emotions and Vampirella will all be major themes in the series.
"Are they doing good things for bad reasons?" Gage asked of Nyx. "Are they fighting to overcome their inherent nature? Are they not sure? If handled properly, I think readers can relate to someone who makes mistakes or bad decisions more than they can someone who always gets it right."
Debuting in the 1996 story "Strange Days Coming" in Vengeance of Vampirella #23, Nyx was created by Tom Sniegoski and Ed McGuinness. Half-human and half-demon, Nyx has the ability to transform into a life force-sucking flame form and was groomed from childhood to hate humanity. She has regularly clashed with Vampirella over the years, even killing her in the conclusion of Vampirella: Death & Destruction #3. Over the course of writer Christopher Priest's 2019 Vampirella series, the character developed more empathy for Vampi as she explored her human side.
Gage is joined on Nyx by penciler Marc Borstel (Weapon X, Lady Death), colorist Jordi Escuin and letterer Taylor Esposito. Multiple variant covers by the likes of Fernando Dagnino, Geebo Vigonte, Rose Besch and Lucio Parrillo will accompany the first issue.
