Wizards of the Coast announced the Dungeons & Dragons Expansion Gift Set, a new collection that includes previously released rules expansions and a brand new reference book.
The Expansion Gift Set includes new prints of Xanathar’s Guide to Everything and Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, the two most significant expansions for Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. While that may already be tempting for both players and Dungeon Masters alike, the collection also features Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse, an all-new reference book that collects and revises "tons" of D&D material. These three books come bundled together with a unique Dungeon Master's screen, all contained within a specially-designed slipcase covering.
“We revised the content in Monsters of the Multiverse so that it plays even better than it did before. Many of the monsters have new abilities and new bits of lore, which will make them even more fun to include in your campaigns,” said Jeremy Crawford, Game Design Architect for Dungeons & Dragons. “We also shifted the lore focus so that this material is relevant no matter where you play in the D&D multiverse, not just in the Forgotten Realms.”
Monsters of the Multiverse features over 250 monster stat blocks alongside 30 playable races pulled from a variety of sources, including Volo’s Guide to Monsters, The Tortle Package, and Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes.
If you already own both Xanathar’s Guide to Everything and Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything then you'll need to wait a little longer to purchase Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse separately. The book will eventually release both physically and digitally as a standalone product but Wizards of the Coast has yet to confirm a solid release date.
While the Dungeons & Dragons Expansion Gift Set should be enough to satisfy any role-player in your life this holiday season, you could also treat them to some of the game's more recent expansions. The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, a new adventure that treats players to magical carnival games and the mysterious Feywilds, launched on Sept. 21. If you're a little more patient, you could instead wait for Oct. 19, when Fizban's Treasury of Dragons reintroduces a host of dragons to fifth edition, alongside some handy new character backgrounds.
The Dungeons & Dragons Expansion Gift Set launches on Jan. 25.
