Season 3 finally saw Otis and Maeve finally kiss and reveal their feelings for each other after his initial voicemail confession was deleted at the end of Season 2. However, before they can start officially dating, Maeve leaves suddenly for a once-in-a-lifetime study opportunity in America. The third season also saw the rise and fall of Moordale Secondary's new headmaster, Hope (played by Jemima Kirke), who attempted to instill a rigid curriculum for what has been known as the scandalous "sex school" since Season 1. Despite her efforts, the students rebelled in a sex-positive presentation at the school's first open day, resulting in her termination and investors pulling all funding from the school, effectively shutting Moordale down for good.

Several storylines were left hanging at the end of Season  3 -- not just the Maeve and Otis love story, but what will happen to. the students of Moordale now that they no longer have a school to attend. Netflix has only announced that Season 4 will happen, but no other information, such as a release window or trailer, has been released.
