Stargirl: Eclipso Proves Why He Is the JSA's Ultimate Villain

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Stargirl Season 2, Episode 6, "Summer School: Chapter Six," which aired Tuesday on the CW.

Throughout Stargirl Season 2, several villains have been set up as major threats. The Shade (Jonathan Cake), the last member of the original Injustice Society and the alleged murderer of Dr. Mid-Nite, returned to town. Meanwhile, Cindy (Meg Delacy) is making her own Injustice Society with Artemis (Stella Smith) and Isaac (Max Frantz). However, the deadliest, most dangerous baddie of Stargirl Season 2 is Eclipso (Nick E. Tarabay), and Episode 6, "Summer School: Chapter Six," proves why that is.

While restrained to his diamond until this episode, the stories of Eclipso were enough to strike fear in Barbara (Amy Smart) and Pat (Luke Wilson). The Shade also returned to destroy the Black Diamond because of how bad Eclipso was. With the reveal that Eclipso killed Mid-Nite's daughter, an innocent little girl, along with the legends surrounding his origins on Diablo Island, an island no one returned from aside from one man, the standards were high for this villain.

Come Stargirl Season 2, Episode 6, his time to shine is now. Cindy (Meg Delacy) and her team challenge the Justice Society of America, and while it's a good fight, the JSA come out on top. Realizing defeat, Cindy takes out the Black Diamond to use Eclipso's powers; however, The Shade then arrives, and he seems set to beat her until Eclipso takes over Cindy's body.

In this form, The Shade cannot get the best of Eclipso. Although the evil being is not in his most powerful state, The Shade still needs help to take down Cindy and Eclipso, so Courtney (Brec Bassinger) jumps into action, using the Cosmic Staff to break the diamond. Unfortunately, this frees Eclipso, and in his full form, he is unbeatable.

He first takes care of the new Injustice Society, yanking one of the blades out of Cindy's body. He then stabs Isaac and feeds off his anger. This kills Isaac, leaving nothing behind. The death is brutal, and not the first time audiences have seen Eclipso do something like this. However, his next kill is even more horrific.

After making sure it's clear to Cindy that he owes her nothing and she was merely a tool for him to use, he takes a piece of the broken diamond and throws it toward her. A mysterious, dark puddle starts to suck her in, and it's so terrifying that she cries out for Courtney's help, but even Stargirl can't help. It's presumed this killed Cindy, as nothing of her is left, but there is a chance she went somewhere else -- like Eclipso's home, which could be even worse than death.

Finally, Eclipso takes on The Shade, and it's revealed his powers do nothing against Eclipso, as they are from the being's world. Eclipso then brutally stabs The Shade and tosses him aside, with The Shade using his abilities to flee. While not dead, he is in a horrible state after a very short fight with Eclipso.

Eclipso thankfully does not take down the JSA, but it's clear he could've. Instead, he chose to leave, likely because he wanted to start on his real plan -- feeding off of other humans' wrath. The fact Eclipso took down the other major threats set up for the JSA to tackle this season proves he is the ultimate big bad of Stargirl Season 2, which has new episodes airing Tuesdays at 8/7c on the CW.
