Batman: CircuitMess Revs Up an Impressive Batmobile STEM Kit

European company CircuitMass has developed a Batmobile specifically designed to teach curious makers all of the STEM skills an aspiring WayneTech employee would need.

Within two hours of its Kickstarter campaign launch, the CircuitMess Batmobile blasted through its initial goal of $15,000 and has currently crowdfunded more than $250,000. The end product is an AI-powered Batmobile that includes machine learning capabilities, a camera, multiple LEDs, a rechargeable battery, four metal gearmotors, and a variety of other smart tech. The car comes disassembled, and once constructed, it can be connected to a computer and modified via code.

In the video promoting the project, CircuitMess CEO Alber Gajšak said that he has always been fascinated with the Dark Knight's elaborate gadgetry, and hoped to build a toy that represented the best of Batman's mental prowess. "Ever since I was a little kid, I was a huge Batman fan," Gajšak said. "I always adored his strength, intelligence and his gadgets. That's why I started playing with technology myself. It all started with simple electronic kits that I was building in my living room. And it was so amazing -- you work on something for hours and hours, and when you finally flip that switch, the thing lights up and it actually works. I was so proud of myself every single time, but more importantly, I felt like Batman. I wanted to share this joy and excitement I felt with the rest of the world. "

This is far from CircuitMess' first product. Since the company was founded in 2017, it has created multiple kits designed to teach electronics, coding and other STEM skills, including a buildable mobile phone named Ringo, a DIY voice assistant named Spencer, and Nibble, a handheld retro gaming console.

"CircuitMess is truly inspiring," Francois Simonetta, Vice President at Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA Agents said. "Turning toys into elaborate STEM kits that teach both electronics and coding is a great way to encourage kids to learn STEM by doing what is most natural to them: playing. We are excited that the CircuitMess Batmobile is their next and greatest STEM kit so far."

Aside from its high technology, CircuitMess' Batmobile sports a sleek look vaguely reminiscent of the famous car's appearance at the beginning of DC 's Rebirth initiative, where it was illustrated by artist David Finch in 2016's Batman #1 with a notable Bat face plate on its front.

The CircuitMess Batmobile is available for pre-order via Kickstarter now, with a starting tier of $99.
