It's Penguin and Catwoman against the world in an official first look at DC Comics' Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant #1.
A 100-page anthology special celebrating the various members of Batman's rogues gallery, Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant #1 is slated to hit comic shops in one month's time on Tuesday, Nov. 30. The book is headlined by "Bird Cat Love," a Penguin/Catwoman story written by actor Danny DeVito and illustrated by Dan Mora. DeVito, of course, famously starred as Oswald Cobblepot (aka the Penguin) opposite Michelle Pfeiffer's Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) in the 1992 Tim Burton-directed film Batman Returns.
In addition to DeVito and Mora's Penguin/Catwoman story, Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant #1 includes a Scarecrow story by Wes Craig; a Poison Ivy story by G. Willow Wilson and Emma Rios; a Ra's al Ghul story by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Riccardo Federici; a Talia al Ghul story by Nadia Shammas, Joshua Williamson and Max Raynor; a story starring the original Red Hood by Stephanie Phillips and Max Fiumara; a Mad Hatter story by Dan Watters and Skylar Patridge; and a Killer Moth story by Mairghread Scott and Ariela Kristantina.
The 100-page comic features a main cover by Lee Bermejo, as well as variant covers by the likes of Frank Quitely, Wes Craig and Jason Wordie, Marguerite Sauvage, Riccardo Federici, Dan Mora, Francesco Mattina and, finally, Chris Burnham and Nathan Fairbairn. In addition to the eight covers, DC has revealed a four-page, unlettered preview for DeVito and Mora's "Bird Cat Love" at this time.
