Conflict is a common element in shonen anime, and Hunter x Hunter is no exception to the rule: difficult situations are almost always resolved through confrontation. Nen users exist in a range of flavors, but the strongest ones are those with an innate capacity for manipulating their aura in unpredictable ways.
In most cases, characters require considerable time and effort to eke out a victory, but there are a few occasions when the outcome is obvious from the very beginning. This doesn't necessarily imply a massive power differential between the combatants, however.
10 Neferpitou Decapitates Kite Without Getting A Single Scratch
Neferpitou is a force of nature, showcasing their strength for the first time in the battle against Kite. Their En is so vast that they pinpoint the Hunter trio from a great distance away, managing to reach Kite and lop off his arm in a fraction of a second.
Gon tries to join the fight, but Killua drags him off to safety because he realizes that even all three of them combined are no match for the Chimera Ant. The details of their battle aren't revealed to audiences, but the fact that Neferpitou playfully toys with Kite's head is enough proof that it ends in an instant.
9 Gon Loses To The Mathematical Complexity Of Hakoware
Gon tries to take Knuckle down after Netero states that the positions available in the Chimera Ant Extermination Squad are limited, but is consistently knocked back by his experienced opponent.
They fight on multiple occasions, with Knuckle revealing his trump card on the final day. Gon reacts to Hakoware with utter bewilderment, although he eventually realizes that the mathematical complexity involved wouldn't have made a difference to the outcome anyway.
8 Biscuit Knocks Bara Senseless With A Single Strike
Biscuit takes Bara to Soufrabi on Greed Island, leaving the other two Bombers for Killua and Gon. Her opponent hits her with such force that she flies across the beach, but it doesn't seem to faze her in the slightest.
On the contrary, Biscuit implies that she permitted Bara to slap her only because she feels bad for what's about to happen to him. She subsequently transforms into her real form and finishes the fight with a straight punch to Bara's face.
7 Hisoka Destroys The New And Improved Kastro
Kastro intends to redress his humiliating defeat at Hisoka's hands in a prior Heaven's Arena match, arrogantly announcing that his new Nen technique will seal the deal for his nemesis.
In the beginning, Kastro appears to have the upper hand, earning a four-point lead over Hisoka, but his meager triumph is quashed when his overpowered opponent figures out his doppelganger attack with only a few minutes of observation. At this point, there is no saving Kastro from Hisoka's cards.
6 Uvogin Annihilates Every Minion Sent By The Mafia
After the theft at Yorknew City, the Ten Dons send a horde of Mafia henchmen to hunt down the Phantom Troupe, but they're all immediately and singlehandedly crushed by Uvogin. Four members of the Shadow Beasts then enter the fray, simultaneously attacking their quarry from all quarters and preventing him from reacting in time.
Despite being outnumbered, Uvogin kills them all with ease. Only someone like Kurapika has any chance against the monstrous power of this Phantom Troupe villain.
5 Canary Dispatches Dozens Of Trained Fighters Singlehandedly
Canary is the Zoldycks' apprentice butler, meaning that her status is relatively low among the employees living on the family's estate. Although a mere ten years old, she proves herself to be a devastatingly accomplished combatant.
When Seaquant, a Blacklist Hunter, breaks into the Zoldyck grounds along with a hundred minions, Canary dispatches all of them by herself, terrifying the attackers beyond words. What's scarier is that she's nowhere close to Gotoh's level of proficiency.
4 Kurapika Defeats Chrollo Without Even Facing Him In A Real Fight
Kurapika wants nothing more in the world than to avenge his fallen clan, promising to destroy the Phantom Troupe even if it costs him his life. At the same time, he's intelligent enough to be wary of Chrollo Lucilfer's dangerous Nen technique, Skill Hunter, so he abstains from indulging in a head-on battle with the Phantom Troupe leader.
Instead, Kurapika casts Judgment Chain on Chrollo, banning the latter from utilizing his Nen ever again. This is the only known case where Chrollo is soundly defeated.
3 Hisoka Is Crushed Under The Force Of Chrollo's Nen
Hisoka has been dying to fight Chrollo for the longest time—his wish is finally granted when Chrollo agrees to battle him in Heavens Arena (in the manga). Chrollo rapidly launches multiple attacks on Hisoka, revealing that he has acquired even more abilities than before, forcing the latter into a corner.
Hisoka spends most of his time evading his opponent and his human puppets, only to find out that he has no means of escape. Chrollo seemingly destroys Hisoka at the conclusion of their fight.
2 Adult Gon Shows Neferpitou The Strength Of Vengeance
Neferpitou refuses to tell Gon about Kite's death until he's far away from the Ant King, as she suspects that he won't take the news well. As expected, Gon transforms into a massively overpowered version of himself and bashes her face in with unprecedented ferocity.
Neferpitou is completely helpless against her opponent's rage and newfound Nen aura; she is defeated without even getting a single chance to retaliate. That said, her post-death Nen might have killed Gon if Killua had not reached his friend in time.
1 Gon Breaks Hanzo With Sheer Willpower
Netero gleefully declares that the Hunter Exam's final phase would only have one loser; in other words, eight of the nine finalists will pass and obtain their license. Gon and Hanzo are paired in the beginning, with the latter easily besting his younger opponent with superior agility, power, and overall experience.
Gon doesn't withdraw no matter how violently he is knocked around by Hanzo, forcing the Ninja to reevaluate his strategies. However, not even torture is capable of getting Gon to bow out of the match, leaving Hanzo with no choice but to admit defeat.
