Marvel's Hawkeye Series May Reintroduce a Dangerous Avenger to the MCU

Hawkeye is the latest series coming to Disney+, and it will finally give Clint Barton his time to shine. One of the benefits of the character having his own series is that audiences will finally explore his rich and varied history. From multiple romantic interests to life growing up on a carnival, Hawkeye's younger life may be one of the most unexpected stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a result, this could also be the best time to introduce one of the deadliest Avengers to ever be on the team: Mockingbird.

In the comics, Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird, has an exciting history where she has worked with S.H.I.E.L.D., been an Avenger and has played a part in one of the many attempts at recreating the Super Soldier Serum. One of the outcomes of the latter is she has been granted superhuman abilities that have enhanced her strength, healing and agility. Coupled with her skills in hand-to-hand combat and acrobatics, she is one of the most efficient agents to ever work with S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers.

Mockingbird has also had a serious romantic relationship with Clint Barton in the past. While working freelance, she met Hawkeye in the field. They were married and worked as a team on the West Coast Avengers following their first mission together. However, their relationship wouldn't last, and ever since, Mockingbird has traveled through time, joined multiple Avengers teams and even dated Spider-Man for a brief stint. That being said, most MCU fans may remember her from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Bobbi had no ties to Clint Barton in the series and was instead married to agent Lance Hunter. While she never shared history with Hawkeye, Hunter had many of his personality traits which often led to clever banter between them. She only appeared in the series but was fiercely loyal to Coulson and his team and went deep undercover within Hydra. She also endured painful torture from Grant Ward before breaking out. Eventually, she and Lance left the team, which was the last that the character was seen.

Fans of the character from the show and comics are hopeful that the character will appear in Hawkeye. However, with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. likely not being a part of the MCU anymore, Mockingbird may wear a different face if she appears. But as a previous love interest of Hawkeye, her appearance could reflect when she appeared in Matt Fraction and David Aja's series. By playing up their history, the series could show how well the two get along and argue both in and out of combat.

Having a whole episode devoted to the two reconnecting could show how Clint has changed as a family man while Bobbi is still loving every moment of being a hero. Should she get positive feedback from the fans, she could also find herself in future shows or even join a new team of Avengers in the future. The Hawkeye series features great promise in the possibility that even more of Marvel's catalog of characters could appear. But with Clint's history being held under wraps, now is the best time to bring in Mockingbird.

To see if Mockingbird appears, Hawkeye premieres Nov. 24 on Disney+.
