MCU: Every Character As Strong As Vision, Ranked | CBR

While the MCU as a franchise is beloved, there are certain characters every viewer seems to connect with more than others. Obviously, legends such as Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are regarded as two of the best, but there are other characters who have connected to viewers in a different way. One of them is The Vision, which is an android that was created by Ultron and the Mind Stone but was perfected by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.

The Vision was created to stop Ultron, which he did, but would also go on to become an important member of The Avengers. He even fell in love with Wanda Maximoff, whose powers were also enhanced by the Mind Stone. Unfortunately, The Vision has been put through the wringer since Avengers: Infinity War, which included him dying twice and then he was later resurrected by Wanda in WandaVision, only to have to say goodbye to his love once more. Regardless, The Vision was considered to be one of the strongest MCU characters to date, so which other MCU characters could match strengths with The Vision?

10 Ultron Helped Create Vision & Almost Defeated Him, But Vision Had Help From The Avengers

Vision's creation in the MCU happened thanks to the murderous robot, Ultron, who just wanted a new body for himself. Ultron would use Dr. Helen Cho's regeneration cradle after controlling the doctor with Loki's scepter, which of course was housing the Mind Stone. Ultron was only created because of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, who thought artificial intelligence could benefit the Avengers and the world in general. Unfortunately, it failed and Ultron became a huge threat to the world, but Stark and Banner would rectify the situation by creating The Vision.

The Vision was able to help the Avengers defeat Ultron, but could Vision do it without Earth's Mightiest Heroes backing him up? In reality, Ultron would probably get the upper hand on Vision and could summon his army of metal soldiers to help, which would put Vision in a vulnerable place. Some people would say that Ultron having his army would be unfair if Vision didn't have help from the Avengers, but everyone has to remember that each of those robots is actually Ultron himself.

9 Loki Is An Asgardian God Whose Magic & Wit Could Match Vision's

While Loki and Vision have never shared any screentime together, it was Loki's staff that housed the Mind Stone and helped give life to the android. Loki may have been defeated by the Avengers and Thor, but if the God of mischief faced Vision in a one-on-one match-up, there's a good chance Loki's tricks and sorcery would confuse Vision. Loki could turn himself into anyone, including Wanda or other friends of Vision, which would throw him off and would make it harder for Vision to fight back against the actual Loki.

Vision's strength and flight would help in his battle against the rightful heir of Jotunheim, but there's no doubt Loki's tricks and smarts could match those of the Avengers' android. Strength is more than just big muscles and fighting ability, it's intelligence and resources, which Loki has boatloads of. Whether it would be enough to best Vision is unclear, but Loki's resiliency would match up well and as viewers saw in Disney+'s Loki, Loki will do anything to figure out the mysteries that stand in his way.

8 Hela Is The Goddess Of Death & It Took The Revengers & Surtur To Stop Her

Another powerful Asgardian is Hela, the Goddess of Death who teamed with her father, Odin, to take control of the nine realms long before Loki and Thor were born. She was defeated by Thor, Loki, Valkyrie, Hulk, and even Surtur, with the latter growing as big as a mountain to squash the evil Hela. However, if it took all that firepower to defeat the Goddess of Death, then how would one incredibly strong android hold up against her? If Vision fought her on Asgard, Hela would probably be able to overpower him because she gets her strength from her homeworld.

Additionally, Hela's strength off Asgard is still pretty formidable but that would give Vision a better chance to defeat her. Although, she did stop Mjolnir when Thor threw it at her in Norway and she was able to follow Loki and Thor when Heimdall tried to bring them back to Asgard. Her pure evilness and desire to rule over the people of Asgard could be her downfall, but there's no doubt her power is greater than most, and she would be able to hang with Vision in a physical altercation.

7 Ebony Maw's Mystical Powers & Friendship With The Mad Titan Made Him A Force To Be Reckoned With

Out of every member of The Black Order, aka the children of Thanos, Ebony Maw seems to be The Mad Titan's right-hand man and probably the strongest of the group. His magical dark powers are relentless and they almost helped him defeat the Master of the Mystic Arts. However, Maw was tricked by Iron Man and Spider-Man on his ship, who saved Doctor Strange and sent Ebony flying out to space.

His 2014 variant would return in Avengers: Endgame and would stand with Thanos and his army as they tried to defeat the Avengers once again. Ebony Maw could match the strength, knowledge, and flying ability of The Vision, which not many MCU characters can do. Unfortunately, both Maw and Vision have been killed several times and most likely will never have a one-on-one meeting, unless Multiversal variants of the characters return to the MCU.

6 Hulk's Smashing Intelligence Could Rival The Avengers' Android

The Hulk has had quite a wild ride since debuting in the MCU in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, going from a volatile member of the Avengers to a giant green genius as Smart Hulk. Regardless, Hulk's strength is on par with anyone in the MCU and there are not many beings who can go toe-to-toe in a fistfight with the green goliath. While it would be fun to see the Hulk from 2012's The Avengers try and smash Vision, Smart Hulk would match up better and he would use a combination of brains and brawn.

While Hulk and Vision are no strangers to each other, Hulk was traveling through space after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, so they only worked together briefly in the battle against Ultron. Sadly, Hulk suffered a severe arm injury after Avengers: Endgame and only the White Vision variant is out there as of October 2021, so it'll be a long shot to see these two heroic titans together again.

5 Thor Is Another Asgardian God & May Be The Strongest Avenger Of All Time

Another member of the Avengers who has been around since the beginning of the MCU, Thor Odinson is an Asgardian God who wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir. He is one of the rare characters who could withstand a beating from the Hulk and give it back to the Jade Giant just as well. He's also battled Surtur, Ultron, Loki, and even Thanos, with the latter being the only one who got the best of him. Although, Thor would rectify that loss to Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and "go for the head" in Avengers: Endgame, leaving the Mad Titan shorter than he was.

Interestingly, Ultron may have begun the process of Vision's creation but Stark and Banner advanced it with the help of Thor's lightning. The Vision would go on to copy Thor's cape look and was even able to lift Mjolnir, a feat that no other Avenger would be able to do until Captain America in Endgame. While Vision's strength is only matched or superseded by a few characters, there's no doubt The God of Thunder would be one of them, and he's probably the strongest male Avenger in the MCU.

4 Thanos, With Or Without The Infinity Gauntlet, Is Extremely Powerful & Is The Biggest Threat The Avengers Have Faced So Far

The villain who loomed large over the MCU since 2012's The Avengers, The Mad Titan Thanos finally decided to gather all of the Infinity Stones and bring balance to the universe in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. While the Avengers put up their best effort on both Titan and Wakanda, they were ultimately defeated when Thanos filled his Infinity Gauntlet up with all Infinity Stones.

Beforehand, Vision knew the Stone had to be destroyed and although Wanda disapproved of destroying it at first, she later reluctantly agreed and was forced to kill her lover. However, Thanos used his recently acquired Time Stone and brought Vision back to life, only to rip the Mind Stone from Vision's head right away. It's hard to admit, but the beloved Vision was easily overpowered by The Mad Titan with the Gauntlet and he probably would have been defeated by Thanos without the Infinity Stones as well.

3 Doctor Strange's Knowledge Of Magic & Mystic Arts Would Probably Outsmart The Android

As the Master of the Mystic Arts and the keeper of the Time Stone, Doctor Strange knows a thing or two about holding power in the palm of his hand (or around his neck). Strange's powers seem to be getting stronger with each passing appearance in the MCU and he is definitely one of the most important beings in the universe. Strange is going to be a major part of the future of the MCU, as he will be helping Spider-Man understand the Multiverse in No Way Home, and he will be facing his own multiversal issues in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Strange's knowledge of other universes and otherworldly beings is unparalleled in the MCU and his sorcery could match Vision's technological knowledge, as well as their abilities to fly and use trickery in their fighting techniques. Fans of the Avengers would not want to see the good Doctor fight with everyone's favorite android; however, if it happened, it would be an epic brawl between two iconic heroes.

2 Captain Marvel's Power Is Unlimited & Almost Stopped Thanos When He Had All The Infinity Stones

Captain Marvel was first hinted at in the post-credits scene of 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, with Nick Fury sending a signal to a high-tech beeper from the 1990s when Thanos' destruction began. Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, would single-handedly destroy one of Thanos' large ships and she almost defeated him with the Infinity Gauntlet. She would be overpowered when Thanos singled out the Power Stone and punched her across the battlefield, but the fact she was able to hang with the Mad Titan was impressive.

The Vision may have overpowered Ultron and fought off some of the Black Order members, but the fact that he was dispatched by Thanos so quickly is very telling. Carol nearly defeated Thanos by herself, so it should be pretty obvious Captain Marvel's strength rivals Vision's.

1 Scarlet Witch's Powers Also Come From The Mind Stone & She Has A Loving Bond With Vision That Would Throw Him Off

Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, is one of the strongest MCU characters of all time and proved it in WandaVision when she created her own world. Beforehand, she started a relationship with The Vision and the two heroes fell in love, bonding over their Mind Stone powers and their lives as Avengers. After Vision was killed in Avengers: Infinity War, Wanda was snapped by Thanos but would return to confront and almost destroy him by herself.

Wanda would build her own world and bring Vision back to life, but it wouldn't last long and the two lovers would have to say goodbye to each other again. The fact that Wanda is strong enough to build a fake world and recreate another Vision tells fans all they need to know, including that The Scarlet Witch's strength surpasses even The Vision's.
