Star Wars: Hasbro Unleashes Massive HasLab Rancor | CBR

Hasbro officially launched a crowdfunding campaign for a new collectible of one of the most iconic Star Wars monsters: the Rancor.

Originally announced in July, the HasLab Rancor will be accurately scaled to fit in with other Star Wars: The Black Series action figures. It stands at 17.5 inches (44.45 cm) tall and can stretch its arms upwards to reach a height of 27 inches (68.58 cm), making it, physically, the biggest release in the line to date. It will also be the first product from Star Wars: The Black Series to be funded through Hasbro's HasLab, which requires a minimum number of pre-orders in a set time period in order for the figure to be released. According to Hasbro Pulse, the Rancor will need at least 9,000 backers by Dec. 6 and fans looking to buy it can pledge to the campaign directly through Hasbro Pulse for $349.99 per Rancor (limit five per customer).

  • (HASBRO/ Approx. Retail Price: $349.99)
  • Campaign period: October 22, 2021 — December 6, 2021
  • Backers needed by December 6, 2021: 9,000
  • In the US, CAN, and UK, this campaign will be live through HasLab on HasbroPulse.com & UK.HasbroPulse.com

Though it carries a hefty price tag, fans have shown in the past that they're willing to support Hasbro's high-end Star Wars releases. If the Rancor is successfully funded, Hasbro will also unlock reward tiers starting at 11,000 pre-orders, which can add bonuses such as extra figures, accessories and display options.

Last year, the HasLab Razor Crest received over 28,000 pre-orders, successfully unlocking tiers that included an additional escape pod, hovering Grogu figure, four carbonite blocks and a clear display stand. The limited pre-order window on HasLab items has made them extremely popular with collectors, many of whom are afraid of missing out on some of the rarest Star Wars figures ever.

Star Wars: The Black Series is a line of 1/6 scale action figures that expands across the vast reaches of the galaxy. Since 2013, it has included characters and vehicles from all of the Star Wars films, as well as The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, The Clone Wars and Rebels. It even included many of the creative minds behind the making of Star Wars, including director Dave Filoni dressed as a Rebel Alliance pilot and series creator George Lucas as a Stormtrooper.

The announcement for the HasLab Rancor was part of Hasbro Pulse Con 2021. The two-day virtual event featured reveals from across Hasbro's multiple toy lines, including G.I. Joe, Fortnite, Power Rangers, Transformers and Marvel. To coincide with the event, Hasbro offered up a series of Pulse Con Exclusives, such as a Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Emperor Palpatine, a G.I. Joe Classified Series Zartan and a throwback Marvel Legends Venom figure based on his appearance in Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
