The Sims 4: 5 Packs That Need A Refresh (& 5 That Are Perfect)

The Sims is a series known for its numerous expansion packs and updates that are released periodically. Though the price tag of owning every pack can add up to a shocking amount, Simmers are always hungry for new content.

With the release of the Spa Day refresh pack for The Sims 4, EA has set a precedent for revisiting other previously released game packs and updating them with new content while also improving what is already there. Though most packs could benefit from being revisited, some are in need of a refresh more than others. Likewise, some packs are already so great they don't need to be refreshed at all.

10 Refresh: Outdoor Retreat Is So Old It Could Use An Update

Outdoor Retreat was the first game pack released for The Sims 4, and while it is just fine as it is, being the oldest pack for the game means it could use a refresh. Outdoor Retreat added the first destination world to The Sims 4 in the form of Granite Falls.

Though the area was small, it also included new outdoor activities like camping and bug collecting. While the content included in Outdoor Retreat was good at the time, it has been overshadowed by bigger and better packs. A refresh could introduce additional outdoor activities for Sims that would fit right in with camping.

9 Perfect: Realm Of Magic Is One Of The Sims 4's Greatest Additions

Realm of Magic is one of the most expansive game packs released for The Sims 4 and brought some major changes to the game, adding both a new neighborhood and a new special location. While players could, of course, continue to play normally, they could also have their Sims become spellcasters and enter the Magic Realm.

As with anything, there could always be more done if Realm of Magic were revisited, and some fans are always unsatisfied and want more. However, Realm of Magic perfectly achieved what it set out to do and delivered magic into The Sims 4.

8 Refresh: Parenthood Would Benefit From Including More Parenting Activities

The Parenthood game pack for The Sims 4 was great, and it added many features that players had been asking for since the game's release. However, that doesn't mean the pack couldn't benefit from a refresh adding even more.

Released alongside the Parenthood game pack was a free update that finally added toddlers to the game, and though the game pack wasn't required to use them, it did include many more interactions for siblings and parents. A Parenthood refresh could add even more to the idea of expanding family relationships and activities.

7 Perfect: Vampires Has Everything Fans Of The Fanged Creatures Need

The Vampires game pack did exactly what one would expect and added the vampire life state to The Sims 4 along with various gameplay changes to accommodate vampires. The pack added interactions for vampires to influence mortal Sims and a spooky new neighborhood.

Though Vampires isn't the biggest game pack, and the neighborhood is on the small side, the pack did include everything it needed relating to vampires and it is considered one of the best. Simmers would prefer new life states to be added rather than spending more time on old ones.

6 Refresh: City Living Needs More Than Apartments & Festivals

City Living isn't a game pack, but a larger expansion pack for The Sims 4. Of all the expansion packs that have been released, none could use a refresh more than City Living. While City Living added apartments for Sims to live in rather than traditional houses, there wasn't much else included that felt really different.

City Living would be a great choice if expansion packs are going to be refreshed in the future, and the pack could certainly benefit from adding some more content to truly make living in the city feel unique. If anything, The Sims 4 fans have been waiting a long time to be able to have their Sims drive cars again, and a City Living refresh would be a good place to include it.

5 Perfect: Jungle Adventure Is Perfect When Normal Gameplay Becomes Boring

Jungle Adventure was the perfect game pack to shake up gameplay in The Sims 4, adding a vast new destination with dangerous ancient temples to explore and treasure to find. The added world of Selvadorada is detailed, and the new activities are interesting a fun.

While it may not be used as often as other game packs, considering much of the new content takes place in a separate destination world, it makes a great diversion when normal gameplay is becoming repetitive. Many Sims fans would surely like to see more destinations to explore added, such as the desert pyramids featured in The Sims 3: World Adventures. However, with the focus being on jungle exploration, Jungle Adventure completely delivered.

4 Refresh: Dine Out Could Include Even More For Restaurants

Dine Out added new restaurant venues to The Sims 4 that Sims are able to both visit as a customer as well as purchase and run as owners of the business. In addition to managing restaurants, Dine Out also expanded the cooking skill with new foods and new ways to learn recipes.

Dine Out is a good game pack on its own, but it could be even better if it were to be refreshed with additional content. More new food and recipes would be a given in a refresh, but even more could be done if new types of restaurants to own were added, such as fast food venues.

3 Let Us Forget About It: Star Wars: Journey To Batuu Doesn't Need More Time Dedicated To It

Unlike others on the list that don't need a refresh because they are already perfect, Journey to Batuu doesn't need a refresh because it was a game pack most fans never asked for. While many players enjoy adding custom content to create Sims based on various properties, the majority of players simply stick to the semi-realistic world that The Sims 4 is set in.

Journey to Batuu was already controversial because fans felt there were many other things they would have rather the developers be focusing on. The last thing fans want is more time spent on this game pack.

2 Refresh: My First Pet Stuff Really Needs A Refresh To Add More Small Pets

Just because Spa Day is a game pack, that doesn't mean that the smaller stuff packs can't be refreshed as well. If this is the case, no pack is in more need of a refresh than My First Pet Stuff. My first pet stuff was controversial for multiple reasons, primarily because it required the expansion pack Cats and Dogs to use everything included.

In addition to the DLC requiring another pack, players were also upset that My First Pet Stuff only included small rodents as pets, which was a major step down from the Pets expansion for The Sims 3 that included other small pets like birds and reptiles. Players would certainly feel like they got their money's worth if the pack was revisited and more pet types were made available.

1 Perfect: Dream Home Decorator Is The Game Pack Simmers Were Asking For

Dream Home Decorator focused on what many fans already spend much of their time doing by adding new features to building and decorating. In addition, Dream Home Decorator brings even more purpose for players who love remodeling by adding the Interior Decorator career.

It may not be a surprise that the newest game pack wouldn't need to be refreshed already, but Dream Home Decorator included everything it needed to ensure that it shouldn't ever need a refresh in the future. Dream Home Decorator brought features that The Sims 4 community had been waiting years for, and despite a few issues that were patched after release, Dream Home Decorator is pretty much the perfect pack for fans of The Sims 4.
