A new glitch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is causing a great deal of hilarity and confusion among players as villagers are appearing without clothes.
As reported by Eurogamer, Animal Crossing players have been posting images of their villagers walking around in the nude since the launch of the paid expansion Happy Home Paradise. The first example of the glitch was seemingly posted to the game's Reddit in early November. Since then, several other users have begun to share their experience with the bug, which seems to be isolated to the cafe, a location you can design on Lottie's island. At the time of writing, Nintendo has yet to address the odd problem. Players are unsure of what triggers the bizarre glitch and are looking into possible fixes.
Despite launching in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has cultivated a passionate, dedicated fanbase. The idyllic life-simulator garnered a great deal of attention, with many fans seeing it as the perfect escape from the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in earnest around the time New Horizons launched. Throughout 2020, Nintendo kept players happy with a bounty of new content updates and patches that introduced new mechanics, characters and plenty of items. Yet as the game celebrated its first anniversary, the updates became less substantial, leading many to complain about the "drought."
Despite the lapse in content, the most recent Nintendo Direct turned many fans back onto the game. A significant patch introduced an abundance of new features, including fan-favorite character Brewster. While players were thrilled to have new mechanics to play with it, Nintendo also confirmed that New Horizons will not receive any more significant updates going forward.
During the same Nintendo Direct, Animal Crossing: New Horizons' first and only paid-DLC was announced. Happy Home Paradise allows players to design and build a variety of houses for villagers looking for a new vacation house. The expansion officially launched on Nov. 5 to universal praise from fans and critics alike. While it can be purchased for $24.99 USD, Happy Home Paradise was also included in the disappointing Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. However, if the DLC is redeemed through this method, the content will be locked if the user cancels their subscription.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
