Walking Dead: World Beyond Delivers Two Spectacular Fights | CBR

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2, Episode 10, “The Last Night,” which aired Sunday December 5th on AMC.

The second season of World Beyond did a really good job of building suspense week after week. Even if an episode felt a little slow, it always drove the story forward and revealed more about the CRM and the protagonists’ plan to overthrow it. Then, it all came together in this week’s dramatic series finale. In the “The Last Night,” Leo and his group got away from the CRM soldiers and foiled their genocidal plans, but to do so, they had to fight. In fact, the episode featured two high-stakes, melee weapon fights, and not everyone made it out alive.

At one point in the episode, Felix, Leo and Will were pinned down by some CRM soldiers and only had limited ammunition. Knowing that, Felix decided that splitting up their enemies would present them with the best option for survival, and seeing Lt. Newton, he knew that his plan would work. He ran off, and sure enough, Newton followed. However, a lot happened before they even fought.

First off, Newton verbally gutted Felix about his life choices and his failures, suggesting everyone must think of him as a disappointment. Unfazed, Felix made Newton kill a bunch of walkers first, then they commenced their fight. Felix wielded two S-poles that attached to make an awesome, Darth-Maul-style weapon, while Newton used a baton and a knife. Their fight was intense, and because of Newton’s insults, it was personal. However, it wasn’t long before Felix stabbed Newton and proceeded to eviscerate him. It was something that Felix threatened to do beforehand, and he made good on his promise.

For the entirety of the series, Jadis has only given orders, but the second fight in the finale showed off her combat prowess. All along, Jadis suspected that Huck was involved with the problems at the CRM’s facility, and as the penultimate episode proved, she was. In the finale, the two of them get to fight it out, and their duel was just as verbal as it was physical.

Huck was alone at the culling station when Jadis arrived with two guards to secure the hidden chlorine gas. That’s when Huck jumped her. They fought each other with kill sticks while insulting each other’s morals. Huck called out Jadis for trading someone (Rick Grimes) to get into the CRM and for being involved with the mass murders at Omaha. Jadis, however, was quick to point out that Huck’s prior intelligence reports made the murders possible. Clearly, neither of them were perfect people, but Huck had a plan to make up for what she did.

Even as Jadis stabbed her with a knife, Huck accomplished her purpose. She had found the gas that Jadis thought was hidden and rigged it to blow. At that point, it was too late for Jadis to stop it, so she had to flee the scene. So, even though Huck died, she sacrificed herself to make sure that Jadis couldn’t hurt the people of Portland with the gas.
