After facing delays due to COVID-19, production has finished for the third and final season of Netflix's Lost in Space.
"Season 3 of Lost in Space has officially wrapped!" NX on Netflix tweeted Tuesday. The tweet was accompanied by a behind-the-scenes photo of Will Robinson, played by Maxwell Jenkins, in a quiet moment with his alien robot companion.
Netflix rolled out all 10 episodes of Lost in Space Season 2 in late 2019. Last March, the network announced the series had been renewed for one final season. Netflix subsequently revealed in June the show had entered pre-production, but the series didn't go into actual production until September due to delays related to COVID-19.
In the Season 2 finale, the Robinson children, separated from their parents, escaped the threat of the alien robot army as their parents stayed behind to destroy the robots' mothership. The move cost the now-scattered colonists their main transport ship, the Resolute, but their children were safe aboard the Robinson's Jupiter 2.
Following a radar signal from another ship, the children onboard the Jupiter 2 discover long lost ship the Fortuna, the same ship piloted by Judy's biological father, whom she had long believed to be dead. Meanwhile, the ever-nefarious Dr. Smith, played by Parker Posey, has faked her own death and stowed away once again.
The Netflix series is a reimagining of the original Lost in Space, which aired on CBS from 1965 to 1968. The classic series also ran for three seasons.
No release date for Season 3 has been announced.
Lost in Space stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Ignacio Serricchio, and Parker Posey. Season 2's 10 episodes are now available to stream on Netflix.
