My Hero Academia: 10 Villains Tokoyami Can Defeat | CBR

Superheroes and villains dominate the scene in My Hero Academia, a popular shonen series that stars Izuku Midoriya, wielder of One For All. Only the bravest, smartest, and toughest hero candidates have what it takes to graduate from schools like U.A. and become full-fledged heroes, and one promising student, in particular, is Fumikag Tokoyami.

Fumikage is enrolled at U.A. in the prestigious class 1-A, and thanks to his Dark Shadow Quirk, he's a real powerhouse. Fumikage can manifest a shadowy being from his belly and launch it at his enemies, using its superior agility, speed, and hitting power to vanquish nearly any villain with impunity. Fumikage is bold but crafty, and if he can use darkness to his advantage, he could take out many powerful villains single-handedly.

10 Soramitsu Tabe, The Hungry Villain

The ferocious villain known as Soramitsu Tabe works directly under the mighty Overhaul, and he is a member of the Eight Bullets squad. His Quirk, Food, allows him to bite through absolutely anything and eat it, negating most physical attacks or barriers that his enemies create.

Combined with his allies, Soramitsu is far stronger than his goofy appearance (and Quirk) would suggest. Fortunately, Fumikage can use the cover of darkness and take him out in one blow, long before Soramitsu's jaws can come into play. Soramitsu will have no defense against Dark Shadow.

9 Toya Setsuno, The Thieving Villain

Another member of the fearsome Eight Bullets is Toya Setsuno, a crafty blond man who can swipe anything his opponent is holding, and do so from afar via his Larceny Quirk. He was even able to steal items from Tamaki Amajiki, a peer of Mirio Togata's, during their fight.

That won't work against Fumikage, though, since Dark Shadow is too big for Toya to swipe with his Quirk. Without that ability, Toya will be helpless when Dark Shadow attacks him, whether or not Toya is taken by surprise.

8 Manabi Aiba, AKA La Brava

Arguably, the petite La Brava is more of a misguided youth than a true villain, since she is a far cry from thugs like Tomura Shigaraki or Muscular. She was a social outcast as a girl, and she later became Gentle Criminal's #1 ally and fan.

When fighting alongside Gentle Criminal, La Brava can use the strength of her love to augment Gentle Criminal's power, but this Love ability does not work on herself. She wouldn't stand a chance against Fumikage by herself.

7 Gentle Criminal, The YouTube Villain

My Hero Academia is certainly a product of its time. Now, in the 21st century, millions of people around the world are enamored with social media and sharing, and Gentle Criminal wants to rack up fame and popularity with, of all things, YouTube.

In battle, Gentle Criminal can make anything rubbery and bouncy, even patches of air, and jump around while disorienting his enemies. This may trip up Fumikage at first, but Dark Shadow will get used to that Quirk before long, and deliver a devastating blow to Gentle Criminal.

6 Spinner, The Gecko Villain

In most regards, the reptilian Spinner is among the weakest members of the dreaded League of Villains, even when his Quirk comes into play. When he first appeared, Spinner used a mega-sword made up of hundreds of regular swords put together, but he didn't accomplish much with that weapon.

Spinner's combat abilities are modest at best, and even his wall-climbing abilities with his Gecko Quirk won't help him at all against the full power of Dark Shadow. This disciple of Stain the hero killer is going down.

5 Mustard, The WWI Villain

Given his helmet and his villain name, it's likely that Mustard is modeled after mustard gas attacks used in World War I, a truly terrifying source of inspiration. This villain is a middle school boy who can emit deadly gas from all over his body to poison his enemies.

Mustard can control the flow of that gas, but even with that ability and a revolver, he can't take down Fumikage. Dark Shadow will block the bullets and then strike Mustard directly, and Fumikage will buy himself time simply by holding his breath.

4 Giran, The Analytical Villain

The villain known as Giran is clearly going for the "cool mobster" look with his suits, cigarettes, and slick personality, but in combat, he may not last very long. Instead, Giran supports Tomura Shigaraki from behind the scenes. He'd rather not face heroes in person.

What about his Quirk? Giran can touch someone's head and erase their recent memories, mainly to protect the League's secrets, but this ability will have zero effect on Fumikage. Dark Shadow will take Giran down with impressive speed.

3 Yu Hojo, The Crystalline Villain

Another member of the Eight Bullets is Yu Hojo, a villain who can manifest hard, sharp crystals all over his body to fight at close range. He is a melee character who can act as a body shield for Toya and Soramitsu, if it comes to that.

However, if Fumikage ambushes Yu, then Dark Shadow will take him out before Yu can materialize those crystals. And if they're fighting indoors, and Fumikage takes out all the lights, then Dark Shadow can beat Yu with brute force.

2 Magne, The Magnetic Villain

The villain once known as Magne (probably short for "magnet") died at the hands of Overhaul at the end of Season 3. Until then, Magne boasted impressive martial arts skills, being able to fight on par with Tiger of the Wild, Wild Pussycats.

As for Quirks, Magne can use the Magnetism ability to polarize people according to sex to either attract or repel them, but Magne can only target other people with this ability. Alone, Magne stands little chance against Fumikage and the might of Dark Shadow.

1 Mr. Compress, The Magician Villain

Mr. Compress is a tricky villain who relies on misdirection and showmanship to confuse his enemies and get the edge on them. It was he who captured Katsuki Bakugo during the forest training camp arc, and he was able to compress Bakugo into a marble-like object.

If Fumikage can take Mr. Compress by surprise, then he'll dispatch this villain in one hit. In a straight-up fight, Mr. Compress can try to dodge Dark Shadow, but if the battlefield is dark enough, then Dark Shadow will be too quick and agile for Mr. Compress to handle, and he'll get knocked out.
