Nancy Drew Is About to Get Romantic With a Bobbsey Twin | CBR

Although the infinitely curious teen detective is battling a supernatural spirit, Nancy will find some time for a new love interest who debuts in Season 2's premiere episode.

The newest season of Nancy Drew will see Nancy meeting "Gil Bobbsey (Praneet Akilla) — one-half of the iconic Bobbsey Twins — who appears with his twin sister, Amanda (Aadila Dosani)," as confirmed by EW. Nancy's meeting with Gil will be "full of mutual sparks."

According to the entertainment site, Gil's character description reads, "a charismatic wise-ass with street smarts from growing up poor on the wrong side of the tracks. Enterprising and irreverent, he does odd jobs and pulls off petty crimes with his sister to make ends meet. His first encounter with Nancy Drew is wryly contentious."

The Bobbsey Twins originated from a long-running novel series from 1904 about two sets of fraternal twins -- Nan and Bert and Flossie and Freddie -- solving mysteries together. The twin-oriented series sometimes involved mysteries akin to Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys and otherwise focused on their evolving friendships and young lives.

Co-showrunner Melinda Hsu Taylor previously stated that Season 2 will feature more standalone episodes, focusing on the payoff of character development. "We have more of a kind of chapter feeling," she wrote. "But you can also drop in to literally any episode this season and feel like, 'I'm getting a really compelling and enjoyable story I'm getting a really compelling and enjoyable story ... I feel like I got that story's end also in these 42 minutes, but now I want to keep watching because there's this other stuff going on in the background."

The official synopsis for Nancy Drew's Season 2 premiere, "The Search for the Midnight Wraith," reads,
